So rt you think that even with Jesus reigning on earth that sacrifices will begin/continue? Why would God do that? Just doesnt seem to make sense to me that the with the ultimate price already paid, and the risen King seen by all, He would want sacrifices again. Just wondering and havent studied this through (at all). Hi Mike. It is pretty clear from various OT passages that the sacrificial system will be carried out during the Millennium. I could list them out, but it would take me some time to do so. Which I don't have just now. And you are correct that it doesn't make sense to us, because we live under the New Covenant in the age of "grace". However I believe God would allow it because He will bring Israel back into the bond of THEIR covenant with God. The theme of many of the prophecies given to us by the OT prophets is the restoration of Israel. The book of Ezekiel is the most detailed of these. God will put His law in their hearts so that they will finally be able to keep their end of the bargain. In other words, When Israel repents and finally recognizes Jesus as their savior, God will through His grace fill the nation of Israel with His spirit, so that they will finally keep their oath to God, their promise to obey His commandments and to carry out His law unto all their generations perpetually. They will carry out the law with the understanding that Jesus fulfilled it all. In doing so they will fulfill their promise, so that God can graft them back into the olive tree. The sacrifices will not bring about forgiveness, they never could,(Hebrews 10: 1-4) but they will serve as a testimony of what Christ has accomplished for them, which was always the purpose of the sacrificial system, to serve as a shadow of what Christ would do. Salvation was always by faith, the OT saints gained approval not because they observed the law, which they did do, but because they believed that God would reward them for seeking Him and His approval (Heb 11: 6).

Just wanted to add some scripture to verify what I am saying.
First the covenant between God and the nation of Israel, Israel agreed to obey God and keep the ordinances and statutes of His law.
There are many passages, too numerous to add here that say that Israel was to keep the law perpetually throughout their generations
Ex 27:21; 29:9; 30: 8, 21; 31:16; 40:15; Leviticus 3:17; 10:9,15; 23:14,21, 31,41; 24:3; 25:34 are just some, there are over 38 verses to make this claim.
The "law" is referred to as God's statutes and ordinances, and Israel was commanded to observe and keep them.
Despite Israel's disobedience God will not entirely reject them or destroy them. As long as a remnant of the nation remains, God will not break His covenant with them:
Ezekiel speaks about how Israel will be brought back under the bond of the covenant, I noted this in a previous post but will repeat it here for context:
God will enable the nation of Israel to keep their covenant with God by putting his Spirit within them, this is clearly occurring in the Millennial Kingdom.
These things may be hard for us to grasp because we live during the church age, under the new covenant. Just like the Jews had trouble seeing who Jesus was, when He lived among them, they were looking for a political savior not a spiritual one. They lived under the law not grace. I think we too have a hard time reconciling the practice of the law under New covenant principles. It is hard for us to reconcile. But scripture teaches that it will happen, there will be a millennial temple on earth, there will be priests and Levites and the law will be practiced including sacrifices. Though we may have a hard time wrapping our minds around it, we can trust that God knows exactly what He is doing and why. It is my belief that He allows it and desires it so that Israel can finally be able to keep their part in the covenant that they entered into at Sinai. They will do this by the grace of God. They will be filled with His Spirit when they realize and believe who Jesus was/is and repent as a nation and as individuals.

Yeah rt you said it for sure it is hard to wrap my mind around this. It makes me ponder other things about our roles in the millennial kingdom if this activity is happening. Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.
