someone somewhere was asking about two hurricanes making landfall in the US. I don't remember the exact question, so I don't really think this is the answer that they were looking for, but a weather guy I follow on Facebook posted that it has been 102 years since two Cat 4 hurricanes made landfall in the US in the same year. I don't know what strength Irma is, but I've been praying that God would turn her back out to sea, if it be His will. It was somebody new in the shout box who was asking. I think they just asked about hurricanes hitting the us within a few days of each other. The answer is probably yes, since any size hurricane would work for that question. There are storms from tropical depressions to hurricanes every year, one after another over a three month period. What we don't always get are massive Cat 3-5 hurricanes making direct landfalls. I wonder if we've ever had 3 Cat 3-5s in a row? I don't know what Jose will do, but it wouldn't surprise me if all of the sudden he ramps up, becomes a major hurricane and shocks everyone too, just like Harvey. All the meteorologists thought Tropical Storm Harvey was going to peter out after crossing Mexico. Right now, nobody is even considering Jose because he's small and Irma is pressing. But Jose is right behind Irma.

I know it's CNN... but I found it very informative, especially on expected impact over the next few days. Just because some CNN reporters create fake news doesn't mean they all do. I don't think a meterologist could get away with it very well anyway... I also embedded a video! Thank you, watchmanJim and Whatif!

Watchmanjim mentioned in the Shoutbox that Irma is the most powerful Atlantic hurricane on record. Here's an article about it!

I'll be praying for your safety, Connie! What is the situation with getting prepared in your area should it come your way? With the devastation caused by Harvey, do you have access to food and supplies and a way of escape?

I'll be praying for your safety, Connie! What is the situation with getting prepared in your area should it come your way? With the devastation caused by Harvey, do you have access to food and supplies and a way of escape? We have plenty of supplies and bottled water here and there's no gas shortage in Houston. Roads out will be a problem if it comes to that because so many places are still underwater. The real problem would be a place to escape *to* if it comes to that. Houston is almost impossible to evacuate.
