Just thought I'd start a thread for Irma updates. This video talks about several different weather phenomena, including the asteroid flyby today. At around 5:00 minute mark, it's the Irma update for Aug 31, with the possible projection. Looks like NYC could get hit by a cat 5 hurricane!

Yeah there are several models showing possibilities. I live close to NYC, so I'm hoping not. Everything (non-concrete) would be destroyed here as nothing is built for that type of wind. I dont believe a 5 is possible as the water temps in the Atlantic are about 72* so if it gets to a 5, it would weaken. Although even a 3 would be extremely devastating to this area.
I believe the eclipse was the warning. This will hit someplace, and I believe either another 'cane or earthquake or some other disaster soon to follow.
PS - I saw terrible flooding from Harvey through TN and KY as well

It wasn't even a hurricane by the time it made landfall, if I remember correctly, but the storm surge was devastating all the way up to New York City and thereabouts. I can't imagine what an actual hurricane might do. Scary. Keep your eye on it and stay safe. Maybe go ahead and start preparing food, water, supplies, extra gasoline before everyone else gets the same idea. Can the US survive, economically, another major hurricane disaster, especially along the Atlantic seaboard?

we had winds of about 90 MPH. Many, many trees went down. flooding was moderate, nothing like Katrina or Harvey

There is possibly another tropical storm/hurricane forming behind Irma as well :/

It's a scary big storm. People here are just hoping it doesn't cross into the Gulf. We're full like an over-soaked sponge.
How soon before anyone knows where it might make landfall with any certainty?

In my experience, it is still too early to know what Irma will do. Many many many of the hurricanes that begin over by Africa end up turning and streaking straight up the middle of the Atlantic without making landfall until they spin themselves out at high latitudes.
But we will just have to wait another day or two to get a better feel for what's going on. Meanwhile, pray and prepare.

Seems to have slid South overnight which doesn't bode well for the east coast
Edit - yeah Jim I agree ¥¥

Hey, watchmanjim, you can be proud of me here! I actually embedded the video in the post, since you taught me how to do that in another thread!

Looks like it's just going to be one storm after another. My prayer is that it dies down and that these storms wake people up to their need for Christ.

September 6th, which is 4 days away is the full moon. Not sure what the tides will be doing on the east coast at that time, but could this be trouble?
Wasn't Sandy worse because the NY coast was in high tide?
