I read somewhere recently that it might make more sense to just place this war at the end of the thousand years because of the horses and armor and Israel being at peace with no walls...the only hard thing though is the 7 years of burning the weapons.

I agree-- if it weren't for the seven year weapon burning, I could agree to that.

Good morning, all4himtim! I am wondering if perhaps there will be a need for horses and hand-to-hand weapons in the battle because modern battle vehicles and weaponry have somehow at the time the prophecy is fulfilled become useless. Might an EMP attack or something along this line of thought set much of the world back to reliance on horses rather than tanks?

Good morning, all4himtim! I am wondering if perhaps there will be a need for horses and hand-to-hand weapons in the battle because modern battle vehicles and weaponry have somehow at the time the prophecy is fulfilled become useless. Might an EMP attack or something along this line of thought set much of the world back to reliance on horses rather than tanks? Definitely possible. It seems highly likely that Damascus will have been nuked before that time, but by the context of the passage it does not really seem like multiple targets across the earth will have been hit. The invasion, in my opinion appears to begin during a time of relative peace, not turmoil. That fact lends itself toward the description of "End of Millenium uprising." But there's enough else in the passage that shows me that does not seem to fit with other things in the passage. I don't know if you've read the whole thread or not, but this is why I advocate for a dual fulfilment, with parts of the passage referring to a "soon" invasion, and other parts to a "distant" invasion, the insurrection at the end of the Millennium. The archaic weaponry fits an end of Millennium scenario, since during the 1,000 years, Jesus will not allow (nor is their a need for) the teaching of the art and science of war-- therefore, with no military technology on earth, Satan can raise an army that does not seem to need technology, since King Jesus' forces won't have high technology weapons either. Just my thoughts.

I think that is very likely, watchmanjim! It seems to me that many of the Bible's prophetic passages relate to more than one time period and have more than one layer of meaning to them.

Well after the big attack by the U.S.A. in Syria I think Isaiah 17 and then Ezekiel 38 are speeding up now. I bet Russia will do something against America to get back at us and then all heck breaks loose...at least that's what I think.

It could happen-- all bets are off. Interesting that 4/7 (today) is backward of 7/4 (Independence Day). I worked 3rd shift on security overnight. At 2 AM I walked out the back door of our office facility to check the back parking lot. There were 7 deer congregated on the parking lot. Have a look at my new post, regarding the Mid-April Crucible. unsealed.boards.net/thread/103/usa-mid-april-crucible

I kept mulling, who is Gog? Why the given name? I don't know for sure, I really don't, but the Hebrew construct kept bringing me back around to the name George, after a Jewish man told me to spell my name Jim with a gimel (Hebrew G) when writing it in Hebrew. I also kept bringing myself back to the concept of Gog possibly being a demon or satanic angel. The concept of Gabriel fighting with the Prince of Persia, being delayed to speak to Daniel, reminds us that the spiritual realm is full of thrones and dominions, principalities and powers, etc. There's a concept that there may be an angel in charge of every nation. Or what if some angels are in charge of more than one nation? What if there is a good angel and an evil angel? What if all the angels were once good, but some became evil? I really don't know how this all works. But what if Gog is a high-ranking satanic angel, maybe even a "god of war?" I also look at the false teachings of the Catholic church. The way they pray to saints. Well. If God never ordained prayers to saints, and thus they never actually reach the saints intended, how much of a leap is it to suppose that satan's angels tap into those prayers offered by people in a deeply religious posture? satan and his brood love to be worshipped. False gods are false. We know that. But there is a sense in which they are not false. Evil angels and/or demons (assuming there is a difference) come around whenever there is a concentrated effort to worship a false deity, and they assume the role of the idolatry in question. This is why false religions have such a hold over people, because they actually do experience spiritual interaction, but it is with evil spirit entities. So when Catholics pray to saints and experience spiritual phenomena, such as visions of saints, answers in their mind, etc. in my understanding, this could hardly be from the actual saint, or from God. So suppose each and every "saint" these Catholics venerate (ie worship) actually is impersonated by an evil angel. . . . And let;s suppose one of these evil angels is known as Gog. And let's suppose he assumed the role of a favorite saint venerated by many people, both of western and eastern churches-- St. George. St. George is definitely the chief saint of Meshech (Moscow), no doubt about it. If this is recognized as chief prince in the Bible, because it is like the prince of Persia, an angelic prince, then Gog is recognized by men as Saint George, chief saint of Moscow. He is also the chief or patron saint of many other places--most notably, wait for it. . . . . England. And maybe THAT explains the connection with the Gog and Magog giants of England. Saint George is the key patron saint for military people, especially of England and Russia. www.st-george-medal.com/St-George-Patron-Saint.htm

I posted this elsewhere, but here is an interesting recent video where this lady ties the Eclipse to the Gog invasion:

As for the timing of the Ezekiel 38 Gog/Magog war, I did not vote because my answer is a bit more complicated. I see it beginning around the time that the 6th trumpet is sounded and culminating at Armageddon. As in most wars, there are many battles, I believe that the armies raised after the 6th trumpet sounds will be the Gog/Magog armies, who will go on to kill 1/3 of mankind, I think those they kill may be those martyred for their faith AKA the tribulation saints. This army will also fight against Christ at Armageddon when He returns. There will be those remnants from the nations that united in war against our Lord who will enter into the Millennium, their descendants will populate the earth again and they will be the future Gog/Magog that rises up at the end of the millennium.
However I do speculate that there will be some kind of armed conflict that happens just before the rapture.

Greetings, I'm cautiously researching this REV 12 sign and positively opening my eyes - based on scripture - to the possibility of this signaling something, whether it be the rapture or a sign shortly prior. I've been amazed at the sheer anger this has seemed to cause, resulting in what seems to be a lot of folks simply judging and furthermore refusing to do their berean 'homework' on this at the very least ... and that's where I'm at right not in my journey.
I'm wondering if there was a general consensus on how the Gog-Magog war fits in from Ezekiel 38? I don't believe a strong enough case can be made for that to be the battle of Armageddon (different players, different purposes etc.) so I'm trying to wrestle with that as I do my studying. That's why I'm struggling to see how the rapture plus 'X' amount of transitional time can usher in the final 7 years, knowing that the fuel from the weapons will be used for 7 years yet we know Israel will flee at the 3.5 year mark.
If we make the assumption that this sign signals the rapture on or around these coming weeks/months, does this then imply that there's a gap between the rapture and the start of the trib? And knowing that Israel needs to have some sense of peace when that war begins, I'm wondering how that can occur if/when their supporter and the restrainer is removed.
Thanks for helping me sort through my studies, regardless of when this is all happening, we know it's only a matter of time - best in Christ!

Welcome lookingup!
I believe, the trib is started with some sort of confirmed covenant according to Daniel 9:27. The rapture however maybe some trigger or necessary precondition for the AC to appear according to 2 Ths 2:3
This seems to be to me the chain of events.
Of course this does include the possibility of a gap of undefined length between this two events. Maybe, the Ez 38 war is to happen right there.
And I dare to say, Israel is living in some sort of peace today. Israel has a very strong army, protecting her borders and this guarantees also some sort of even fragile peace. Not to mention the supernatural protection of God!

My thinking regarding the timing of Gog Magog is that it will begin sometime before the middle of the week and will culminate at Armageddon, as in any war there are many battles fought. I speculate that the Gog Magog armies are those that go on to kill 1/3 of mankind beginning at the 6th trumpet. I do believe though that there may be some kind of war that will take place around the middle east just prior to the 70th week. The 7 years of burning weapons for fuel could carry over into the Millennium.
