Not to take your job, Fitz,  but my husband has gotten interested in watching Dutch and he just said that Texas got hit by a 5.4. Biggest earthquake in Texas in years. Dutch is warning the east coast. ETA: biggest since 1995 and third biggest in recorded history |

There was a strong one in Indonesia that was probably downgraded, but it killed over two hundred last I heard.

Magnitude 5.3 earthquake
49 km from Peace River, AB · 5:55 p.m.
I felt this one. My husband had gone to our basement with my daughter and I thought they had shut the door to the storage room hard and shook the house. 😆
Saw a friend online later post about there being an earthquake. This is the first time I've ever felt an earthquake. They don't happen in Alberta very often.

Downgraded to 4.8. Magnitude 5.3 earthquake 49 km from Peace River, AB · 5:55 p.m. I felt this one. This is the first time I've ever felt an earthquake. They don't happen in Alberta very often. Watching Dutchsinse video the other night and he was saying the USGS has been hiding (not posting) earthquakes in western Canada for some time now. I know that I've seen it happen many times over the years where EQs in Canada reported by EMSC never show up at USGS. Most of these as I remember were in the 4.0 to 4.5 range. This one was obviously too big not to report. |
