Psalm 95:1-6
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

Psalm 23 He is all we need
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Jehovah-Jirah Gen 22:14) He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. (Jehovah-Shalom Judges 6:24) He restores my soul. (Jehovah-Raphe Ex 15:26) He leads me in paths of righteousness (Jehovah-Tsidkenu Jer 33:16) for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; (Jehovah-Shammah Ezek 48:35) your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; (Jehovah-Nissi Ex 17:15) you anoint my head with oil; (Jehovah-M'Kaddesh Lev 20:8) my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

1 John 3:1-2 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. I learned a song as a kid for the first part and a couple of years ago I ran across an artist who has done a song based on verse 2.

"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are."
One of my favorite verses. What an incredible promise. That verse is in one of my favorite songs:

I love reading about the promises God has for His people. I long for the day when Israel turns to Him.
Isaiah 60:19-22
The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light, but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended. Your people shall all be righteous; they shall possess the land forever, the branch of My planting, the work of My hands, that I might be glorified. The least one shall become a clan, and the smallest one a mighty nation; I am the LORD; in its time I will hasten it.

Jude 24-25
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

Sometimes I read a passage, and I just think how good God is. He knows those who are His, then and now.
Malachi 3:16-17 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed His name. "They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him."

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. I like that reminder in the last part...God is guarding His children until His salvation is revealed - that salvation we are right now waiting for. Yes he is guarding his children until the soon rapture happens. God has kept me alive and doing good when man said I wouldn't be alive.

starting Matthew...
1:1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
The Messiah was to be a King after David through his line and the promised seed of Abraham. (2 Sam 7:12-13, Gen 22:18, Gal 3:16)
1:21 She will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.
His name in Hebrew "Yeshua" means "YHWH is Salvation"

So, to continue with the post above that YHWH is Salvation...
(I've been reading through Matthew, but Mark has a longer quotation, so I'm using that today)
Mark 1:2-3 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet,
“Behold, I send my messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way, the voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD [YHWH], make His paths straight,'”
A common practice is to quote more than one passage to show a common truth but the more well known quote/source was the one named. So, this is actually from Malachi 3:1 and Isaiah 40:3. Reading those two in their context will show that it is speaking of a time when YHWH will come to His people. Mal 3:1 states it this way “Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me.”
In Matthew 11:10 Jesus attributes these OT verses to Himself, hence the change in wording to show that Jesus is YHWH in the flesh and the one John was pointing to.

Here is Isaiah 40:3-5
A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
And Malachi 3:1-4 “Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, He is coming, says the LORD of hosts. But who can endure the day of His coming, and who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years.

Matthew 4:13
And leaving Nazareth He went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
"The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles -- the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned."
I love that Jesus is the light. In His light we can see clearly and we have no need to fear because the darkness cannot overcome it.

While flipping to Matthew this morning, I opened first to Nahum. Glancing down, I have this verse highlighted:
Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him.
What a comforting truth.
