Psalm 106:1 Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!
I know this verse is in several Psalms. It's a good reminder. God is good. And His love for His children will never end. We will not always understand what He is doing, but we can hold to this truth.

I'd like to add Psalm 120:1
I took my troubles to the Lord. I cried out to Him and He answered me.
So beautiful. So simple...

One of my favorite prayers in the Bible is the one David prays at the end of 1 Chronicles. He starts by praising God for who He is. (1 Chr 29:10-13)
Therefore David blessed the Lord in the presence of all the assembly. And David said: “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.

I like Psalm 16. There is some Messianic tones and lines in it and much beautiful truth. I love the ending:
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)

Hebrews 10:19-23 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
I got to thinking the other day about how faithful God is. All through the OT it shows His faithfulness to Israel. They weren't faithful, but He was. He's going to be faithful to all His promises.

God is good! A small praise: I finally learned to play Be Thou My Vision, which I've wanted to learn forever, but for whatever reason I would start learning and couldn't get through it. Finally did. Hoorah!

All the following go along with the prayer of the day. We are called to be different. (And it is fine to have hobbies and watch some TV, but I think we must be aware of priorities and things that just suck away our time, along with evaluating what we read and watch.)
Psalm 119:37
Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.
Col 3:2
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Phil 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

I like Isaiah 40. I'll probably use it the next couple of days. vs 9-11 Go on up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!” Behold, the Lord God comes with might, and His arm rules for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him. He will tend His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms; He will carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

Isaiah 40:12-14
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows Him His counsel? Whom did He consult, and who made Him understand? Who taught Him the path of justice, and taught Him knowledge, and showed Him the way of understanding?

Isaiah 40:25-26
To whom then will you compare Me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of His might and because He is strong in power, not one is missing.

Isaiah 40:27-31
Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Lamentations 3:22-23
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
And then of course I have this hymn I can't help but sing:
Great is Thy faithfulness O God my Father There is no shadow of turning with Thee Thou changest not Thy compassions they fail not As Thou hast been Thou forever will be
Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness Morning by morning new mercies I see And all I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness Lord unto me
Pardon for sin And a peace that endureth Thine own dear presence to cheer And to guide Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside

1 Peter 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
I like that reminder in the last part...God is guarding His children until His salvation is revealed - that salvation we are right now waiting for.

also from Peter
2 Peter 3:13 But according to His promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
This stuck with me yesterday because I cannot wait to live in a place where righteousness dwells. But not only righteousness, but the Righteous One! I cannot wait to worship when sin won't tarnish everything.
