I've seen the dialogue on other threads, too.
7 years of a 360 day calendar is 2520 days
I think it's a mistake to rearrange Daniel 9:26-27 to say something other than there is a 7 year period left.
Daniel says that there are 7 weeks plus 62 weeks, the Messiah is cut off after that, a people come and destroy the city and sanctuary, and then one week is left. In the middle of that week sacrifice and offering ends. You have to rearrange Scripture to have 3.5 years left instead of 7.
I think it's a mistake to say "and then there's one week left". There is nothing in the original language that denotes time or a sequence of events. It doesn't say, "first this will happen and then this will happen." The only designation of time is that Messiah comes after 69 weeks. After that, we have a list of facts... not an order of events. In fact, I actually think it strengthens the argument that the timing of the facts is all intertwined/overlapping since it doesn't say, "THEN" or "AFTER".
Facts:
1) Messiah will be cut off and have nothing.
2) The people of the prince to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.
3) He will prevail/strengthen/make mighty *
THE COVENANT with many. One week.
4) In the middle of the week, he will cause the daily to cease (because it is fulfilled/sabbath-
shabath 7673)
5) On the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate**
6) The desolation will continue until the decreed end/annihilation/complete destruction is poured out on the desolator.
*
THE covenant always refers in scripture to God's covenant. This is not
"a" covenant, it's
"the" covenant (which is what the KJV says as well as the Hebrew). See below.
**It sounds like the one who makes desolate comes on the heels of some abomination. It doesn't sound like the one who makes desolate sets up an abomination. It sounds like some abomination happens, and then on the wing of that (following that) comes the desolator.
