Ok Friz i will give you a break. Here is your answer.
Just for starters try Daniel 12: 30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. 32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
1. He gets some to forsake the holy covenant.
2. Arms will stand on his part to pollute the sanctuary, take away the daily sacrifice, and place the abomination of desolation.
3. Those doing such things will be corrupted by flatteries.
Now I am not the brightest bulb in the drawer but the grammar of the passage tells us that the ( them ) at the end of verse 30 are the ones who take up arms, take away the sacrifices, pollute the sanctuary, set up the A.D. and are corrupted by flatteries.
But there will be resistance.
... but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. 34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
When considering the above lets let Ezekiel teach us. Ezekiel 44.6-31. When the millennial temple is built, those Priests who polluted the sanctuary by bringing in unbelievers and non Jews and corrupted the people thru idolatry bringing their abominations in bring will be demoted to the more menial tasks of the temple service. However the house of Zadok will have resisted them and kept the charge of the sanctuary ( with many of them killed ) at great cost to themselves. They will be granted the superior positions in the temple service. If you remember, Hezekiah brought the Babylonians in to his house to show all of his treasures and the Lord destroyed Israel as a result. 2nd Kings 20:13-18. These people will be bringing the unbeliever into the house of the lord. One of them will even sit in the house of God proclaiming himself God. That is your abomination of desolation. The Levites will have facilitated it.
Now please, there is so much more to this i simply cannot write it out. Send your contact info and i will call you.
Thank you schooldad3 .
The Gog-Magog war is a separate event from the Battle of Armageddon. Gog-Magog happens within the first 3.5 years of the Tribulation, and I think it's near the beginning, or may even be the event that kicks off the 7 years. Armageddon of course ends the 7 years when Jesus himself comes to defeat His enemies.
No need to re-invent the wheel here. I am not a theologian and others have dealt with this topic long before me and have articulated it much better than I can. The following was written by Amy Van Gerpen and it sums up my position, perfectly.
Is the "Gog and Magog War" the same as Armageddon?
Many see parallels between the following passages about the "Gog and Magog War" and Armageddon:
Ezekiel 38:19-22 - ...Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.... And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
Revelation 16:17-18, 20-21 - Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!" And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth.... Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent.
Ezekiel 39:4 - ...I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured....
Ezekiel 39:17-20 - "And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, 'Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: "Assemble yourselves and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal which I am sacrificing for you, a great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel, that you may eat flesh and drink blood. You shall eat the flesh of the might, drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams and lambs, of goats and bulls, all of them fatlings of Bashan. You shall eat fat till you are full, and drink blood till you are drunk, at My sacrificial meal which I am sacrificing for you. You shall be filled at My table with horses and riders, with mighty men and with all the men of war," says the Lord GOD.
Revelation 19:17-18 - Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great."
Despite the similarities, there are clear differences between the "Gog and Magog War" and Armageddon. We already discussed that Ezekiel 39:4 is speaking of Gog and his army. In contrast, Ezekiel 39:17-20 and Revelation 19:17-18 are speaking of a feasting on a grander scale. Also, Revelation 19:18 includes ALL people groups, while the Gog and Magog horde in Ezekiel consists of a specific group of enemies surrounding Israel:
Ezekiel 38:1-6 - Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops - many people are with you."
Armageddon will consist of ALL nations coming against Israel and Jerusalem:
Revelation 16:13-14 - And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Zechariah 14:1-2 - Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem.
All of Israel will live in peace and safety in "un-walled villages" before the "Gog and Magog War":
Ezekiel 38:8,11-12,14 - In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely.... You will say, 'I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates....' "Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it?"'
The saved remnant of Israel will have fled to the wilderness in the middle of the Tribulation. They will stay there until Armageddon, when Jesus returns. The remnant will not live in un-walled villages at the end of the Tribulation because they will be supernaturally protected in the mountains:
Matthew 24:15-16 - "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains."
Revelation 12:6, 14 - ...the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days... the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
In contrast to God saving Israel out of Gog's hand in the Ezekiel war, Jerusalem will temporarily be captured during Armageddon with much suffering. These are clearly two separate wars:
Zechariah 14:2 - For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city shall be taken the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity....
