I've always had a lot of ambition in life, to do creative, idealistic things. As the Lord continues to rein me in and keep me on a short leash for His glory, more often I find myself surrendering my goals and thinking ahead to the Millennium, and wondering what tasks our Lord will have for us then, in our glorified bodies. Will the knowledge, skills, and experiences of our current life have any bearing on our Millennial service?

Will the knowledge, skills, and experiences of our current life have any bearing on our Millennial service? I certainly hope so! One thing I know is this: "In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You delivered them. To You they cried out and were delivered; In You they trusted and were not disappointed." - Psalm 22:4-5 We won't have any disappointment when we enter into that time in our glorified bodies. God made each of us for a unique purpose (1 Peter 2:5) and I imagine that purpose will be extremely satisfying to our souls. I know the Bible also says we are going to rule and reign with Him in the millennium.

I hope that our efforts here carry over in some way. It's sad to think about all the things I've built and completed just going to waste, but at the end of the day I will just be so glad to be there it probably won't matter. I do wonder what we will be doing for 1,000 years... like what is God wanting to accomplish during that time that won't already be accomplished when Jesus comes back?

I do think a big part of it will just be peaceful rest-- the restoration of the Edenic paradigm-- work a little, enjoy a lot... everyone shall sit under their vine, and under their fig tree!

Not to mention worship, love, and abide with Emmanuel-- forget Skype, I believe we the glorified ones will be able to face-time with Him spiritually from around the world!

Good morning! What a joy to contemplate the coming time of the Lord's kingdom here on earth! I suspect our lives will be filled with activity during that time. My theory is that we will each be placed in a position of authority over a particular location or a particular aspect of restoration of the world. For example, we may each be in authority over a particular city or community and/or given charge of such things as rebuilding homes, replanting devastated land, healing the people and wildlife that have survived the terrible events of the Tribulation, search and rescue, and even beautification of the world through the arts. I've no doubt that the Lord will put us into roles of leadership that take our talents and interests into full consideration.

Yup. The Bible says WE are going to rule the nations with a rod of iron (along with our head, Christ). This of course is a nice little tidbit of evidence I think points to a rapture in Revelation 12:5.

I'm with you, 'whatif'! The most important thought to me is the fact that I will be with Him in all truth and in all fulfillment, there will not be one yearning! I will be complete in Him. I have let a wonderful life here. But the idea that all that I seek for will be found in Jesus Christ is the Sabbath. Rest from all things that seem like work, even if it's just a thought process of what is right and what is wrong in this specific situation. We will have his mind, and as you said we will be able to have his face at all times. What a wonderful, wonderful rest! I told some people once long ago, in an Ezekiel study, that I couldn't tell whether we would be absorbed by Jesus into His body. You could see puzzled faces in the room. Later that night, as I thought alone, I realized as long as we place importance on our own identity, we will not achieve the measure of closeness with Christ that we so deeply longing for. In the millennium, we may have our own glorified bodies, but we must keep our thoughts centered on being one with Christ in our heart, mind, and soul. In that fellowship, Who knows what we will become!

I think it's fairly clear that we will always have our own unique identity- that is a gift from God, as He made Adam perfectly and placed him in the garden, I believe we will always have our own individuality. But we will certainly be able to "direct-connect" with Christ at any (if not all) times. One thing I have wondered is whether we will eventually spread out throughout the whole earth and bring it all into population and use over time, or concentrate around Israel all the while. I suspect everything will start out in Israel, and over time, as the "not-yet-glorified" population reproduces and expands, we will move out and eventually colonize the whole earth again, with glorified's ruling each new little settlement. Here's one place where the deeds of our current life have consequences-- those who bore more fruit will be in charge of more stuff.

I have had it presented to me that the millennium is a testing time to prove that even if God makes a time, where the lion will lay down with the lamb, men still need Christ in their heart. And the purpose of the millennium is to show that by letting Satan out at the end and seeing that people will still choose him Will prove that. We'll see!
We don't need the millennium, the millennium must fulfill the promise that God made, that a time of peace on the earth would come. And although the peace on earth will be here, notice there is still a governing authority....because men will still have to be governed on the earth. And while mankind has said 'if we could just have peace, and nothing evil, all will be well'… Nothing will bring REAL peace except for ACCEPTING JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART!!! God will keep his promise of the Old Testament and also prove his point. We will be so elated that we accepted him in our heart, correctly, that enables us to be where we are, reigning with Him! We will be appreciative beyond words!! We'll be all of one accord and heaven's occupants will be tried true and tested citizens! That WILL BE HEAVEN😃

I agree with you 1,000% on this. The millennium will show the world that men will still rebel if given the choice. Everyone MUST accept Jesus!

I agree with this and I think that is probably what Jesus had in mind with the parable of the servants who are entrusted with 5 and 10 cities as reward.

I don't know if I'll have time, but I want to write a short fiction story about this time period, exploring some of the possibilities. If I do, I'll post it.

And the purpose of the millennium is to show that by letting Satan out at the end and seeing that people will still choose him Will prove that. I agree, truthseeker! And along that same line of thought, it occurs to me that the people born during the time of Jesus' Millennial Reign will be living in a unique situation in history in that they will not have been born into a time of choice as to whom they will serve. Adam and Eve were given a choice in the Garden of Eden, and ever since, all mankind must make a choice between following God or following one's own path (which is actually following the Enemy). But those born during the Millennial Reign will be obeying the Lord because He will be in complete charge of the world, not necessarily because they love Him and desire to serve Him. Thus, it seems the release of Satan at the end of the Millennial Reign provides them that moment of true choice that all mankind must make.
