Also, I know it's late to be mentioning this, but I am actually a published author. I didn't bring it up before because the only book I ever had published (I co-authored it with my mom) is a fictional work that has nothing to do with prophecy or eschatology or anything like that. My mom, Susan Page Davis, is a successfully published Christian author with over 70 inspirational novels sold. Often her latest books are available in Christian bookstores, and sometimes even in Walmart. (though not always!). I co-authored the Seafaring Women of the Vera B. with her as my foray into becoming a published writer. I really love the book, the setting, and the characters, but again it has nothing to do with prophecy. It is a historical Christian adventure story, and not for the faint of heart, since we actually delve into some deep topics such as rescuing women from prostitution. My mom wrote about half the chapters, and I wrote about half. I like to say, if the chapter is really descriptive of the clothes the women are wearing, my mom wrote it, and if it's a fight scene or a description of someone getting about in the ship's rigging, I wrote it. I know there isn't much time left to read a book now, but if any of you enjoy reading historical Christian fiction, it's available on Amazon and elsewhere, and as a Kindle book, even free on Kindleunlimited. www.amazon.com/Seafaring-Women-Vera-Hearts-Oak/dp/0997230800This takes place in 1854 during the Australian gold rush and involves an unlikely international crew of women from all walks of life banding together against all odds to form a ship's crew and sail to England. American Alice Packard is the widow of a sea captain who recently died in Melbourne's harbour, leaving his crew to abandon ship for the goldfields. Alice is determined to sail the ship to England with its cargo. But with the gold rush on, she can't find a crew of seasoned sailors, so. . . . she and her husband's last faithful crew member recruit a crew of desperate women and strike out across the perilous ocean for freedom. Needless to say, this hardly goes off without a few disagreements, perils, and a big pirate fight in the tropics. The gospel of Christ is prominently presented in this book, as well as the theme of reaching out across cultural barriers to the basest of sinners--for that is everyone.

We may have more in common than at first glance-- have you or your mom ever been to the Mount Hermon Christian Writer's Conference?

Also, I know it's late to be mentioning this, but I am actually a published author. watchmanjim I'm new to the forum and part of what prompted me to join is to tell you how much I enjoyed the short fiction you posted about what life in the Millennial Kingdom might be like. I was going to tell you that if you weren't professional author, you missed a calling. So, it was cool to see that you are in fact a published/professional writer. If the Lord should tarry (though I hope He doesn't), you should write a book on this topic. Your short fiction caught my eye particularly b/c I recently found a Christian book with a similar topic. Except, it was about the time right around when Satan is released from his 1,000 years of being bound. Any chance you'd take a stab at writing a short piece set in that time frame within the MK? I find your writing very engaging and would love to see your take on what factors could prompt non-glorified people to still be drawn into Satan's lies after 1000 years on peace under Christ. I have my own thoughts on what it would be, but would love to read yours. Or if writing a story would be too time consuming, I'd still love to just hear your thoughts on it.

Wow, that would be a fascinating topic to write a book or story about. I'm not sure how I'd go about it as I think I would have a difficult time writing it without picturing our Lord Jesus in person, and I'm somewhat hesitant to do that in a fictional work because I hesitate to "put words in His mouth" even if it is fictional. Funny you should mention it, though, because I have indeed been thinking about that time period some. Part of understanding this final end to the MK age is tied up in wondering to what extent it is clear to everybody what the inner thoughts and motives of the mortal humans are. For instance, will the glorified saints know their thoughts? Guess their thoughts? God knows our hearts--what role does the Holy Spirit play? Would Jesus or the Holy Spirit not tell we, the glorified saints, which souls are saved and which are not? Are the souls of mortal men in the kingdom "locked and sealed in salvation" the same way that you and I are today, or are they "generally loyal to King Jesus" but can defect to the enemy? Without understanding these issues totally, it would be difficult to do a story of this era justice, as the heightened intrigue and speculation would be difficult to portray in a good way, I think. I also struggle with understanding whether mortal humans live to be up to 1,000, like the first patriarchs, or if they die of old age around 100, or exactly what is meant by the passage(s) describing the ages people obtain. Thanks for your encouragement and questions! We will know so much more, so shortly.

I completely understand your reluctance to put words into the mouth of Jesus, even in a fictional story (one issue I had with the book I referenced is that I did find some of what they had Jesus saying unbelievable).
Also, in my view, Satan is released for the same reason God allowed him to tempt Adam and Eve (I even wonder if those of all ages/time periods who died before the MK, before the age where they could choose Christ for themselves will be in non glorified bodies. So they too have a freewill chance to choose Christ or turn away).
And I suspect a lot of Satan's lies will be the same as now: Trying to snare people with supposedly "secret knowledge" God is withholding, telling people God's ways are oppressive and perhaps even denying that those born during the MK will ever be glorified (and will be in some eternal "have nots" category.

Interesting thoughts, AP! I don't think the glorified saints will be able to be deceived. All the references seem to indicate that it is the mortal millennium dwellers who have the opportunity to be deceived by satan. But it is clear that there is a lot we don't understand.

I agree. I think the lies I speculated about will be targeted at non glorified people.
Those will be the people Satan tries to gather for the final Gog/Magog war.

We are just days away from 9/23. I have believing children and grandchildren who are not really thinking about the millennium and perhaps think they won't have the chance to grow up and have families or fulfill their dreams of the future. Now is the time to tell them that the best is yet to come and if they are in Christ, their peace and joy will be way beyond what is presently here on planet earth. Their happiest days of peace and fulfillment are just over the horizon.

Yep. My kids are ready, I believe. My oldest daughter, who is 11, I think is a little bit sad not to have a "normal future" but she know this will all be far better than that. My 4-year-old is really keyed up to see Jesus.

Great stories watchmanjim. Whenever I am feeling down I like to think about what life will be like when Jesus is reigning as King. I hope my role in the kingdom involves taking care of exotic animals or painting. I also have a feeling there will be no drama workplace (dealing with it today) or otherwise in the millennial kingdom. Do y'all think we will want to change jobs in the millennial kingdom?

Welcome to the forum! I can see us changing positions or being promoted to positions of greater authority or responsibility. But I also think a major feature of the millennial kingdom will be a time of rest for the saints. So whatever role(s) we have, I believe we'll be doing something fulfilling. The days of the "daily grind" or "rat race" will be long behind us. And it'll be a pleasure to do a job where the main purpose is to glorify God through using our talents, skills and gifting. Rather than sometimes being stuck for most of your waking hours in a job you may only tolerate b/c you need to the money to live (or in the U.S., just for insurance benefits).
