Welcome, Silentknight! All that you said makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, it seems that these poor people who oppose the sign aren't interested in common sense.
Sad, but oh well.

Thanks for the responses everyone. If I can rant for a minute: I know that the details of his response can themselves be addressed and in many ways already have on various articles at Unsealed.org, but the whole phenomenon of people who study prophecy or prophetic texts reacting with hostility towards the September 23 alignment is one that I am still trying to understand. This is the first I have seen of Dr. Svigel addressing the September 23 alignment. Ever since I have seen his work cited and read it for myself, I have wondered what he thought of the alignment. I was hoping that maybe his silence was his way of remaining open minded to it and that maybe the fact that he had studied that chapter so much himself would have made him particularly intrigued by what we see in the skies. That made his comments when he broke his silence all the more disappointing, even if not totally surprising. What does it take to get some of these experts excited? Why study Revelation and/or prophecy if you're not looking for Jesus' return? When I browse through the articles here at Unsealed.org and elsewhere, I can't help but think that this alignment is a genuine sign and herald of our Lord worth getting excited about. I'd like to think that I've tested out the theories and been a good Berean, and I have found the alignment to indeed hold promise as a fulfillment of Revelation 12, so what do I see that these men and women don't? The fact that they reject it so quickly and categorically is discouraging, but examining their weak rebuttals is encouraging because it make the sign seem all the more legitimate. As a result I have very mixed reactions to these outbursts by the critics of the September 23 alignment. Hi Bruce. I know your comment is from a couple of weeks ago, but I'm reading through the thread now. I just wanted to say that I think the big names are so quick to dismiss the sign is because it's safer for them to do so. If nothing happens and we are all wrong then there is going to be mocking and ridicule. Those people who promoted it the most will receive the most backlash. In their minds, if it is correct, they get to go to heaven, but if it's wrong, their reputations and possibly careers are at stake. I personally was "reprimanded" by someone in my church for promoting the POSSIBILITY that the Rev 12 sign was the alignment occurring sept 23. The main focus of the argument for that person what that if the sign was wrong then people who believed in it would fall away from the faith. To me that argument assumes the Holy Spirit is powerless, because if a person can fall away simply because they are disappointed that their faulty date didn't work out, then their faith in God is not very strong to begin with. And they were putting more faith in man and in their understanding than in God. So this idea of "we can't know anything about the end" is really a way to "save" the fragile-milk-drinking Christian from being confronted with their own lack of faith. The other argument was that for unsaved people who wait for the sign to occur and when it doesn't will mock and be turned off from accepting Jesus. I say this: if they were going to get saved AFTER the sign DID occur... why didn't they get saved BEFORE the sign. Why do they wait? Could it be that they have already refused Christ but think they are leaving their minds open? Don't get me wrong, I think lots of people who ridicule now will be saved after the fact, but it seems ridiculous to me that people who don't believe would be waiting with bated breath for something to happen that they will not be apart of unless they already don't believe in it. Does that make sense? Edit: I just finished reading through the thread and realized the points I made have already been made by some. Good to know we are on the same page! I believe there is a reason why the Bible says that those who are watching will receive a special crown and blessings!

Thanks for your comments Missus. Couldn't agree more!
I was just talking with my nephew who is very in tuned with world and prophetic events. He was expressing how discouraged he was and wishing we could just be with the Lord and out of this rotten ole world. He then asked an interesting question. "I wonder how many others feel that way?"
It made me start thinking. I wonder if God reveals more to those of us who are watching and waiting? So many of our dear friends, who love the Lord but have no interest in prophecy, are clueless about what's going on the in the world and how world situations are exactly fitting into Biblical prophecy.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? Oh I definitely think so, Evenso! We are the only ones who are "going to and fro" through the scriptures! Knowledge IS increasing! I think others, if they are diligently seeking the Lord, He will wake them up. Our being "awake" has nothing to do with us and everything to do with the Holy Spirit rewarding us for seeking Him in these matters. Over 25% of the Bible is prophecy. Jesus even says in Revelation 1:3: "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near." We diligently seek; He diligently responds. I think people who are dismissing this sign without due diligence, are either ignoring prohectic scriptures in their own study or are suppressing the Holy Spirit.

It just occurred to me to point out that this 'Doctrine of Imminence' which has been preached for so long, appears to about to be 'fulfilled'... and they are complaining? Shouldn't they be praising Jesus? Well they're the experts right? And here we are pointing them to a fulfillment happening before they can write their next $24 book and make their next $40 video on how we should know when Jesus is coming. 1 Cor. 1:27
