Alright, so I've had this idea bubbling for a while, so I decided to post it. Here goes; everyone drop every single doctrine about prophecy they have. Then, go to Revelation, and make a study of Revelation/Dainel. Pray, study the Greek (a good resource is at lumina.bible.org ), and try to learn prophecy from the Word, not from other's opinions. Rt has done this, and actually inspired me to do this. I am starting mine as soon as I can. Let's see what we can learn from God, eh? Who's with me? Let's see what God can unseal for us.

I pretty much do this on an ongoing basis, as far as not holding my former doctrines hostage. And end-time prophecy is found in almost every book of the Bible. . . I've done this quite a bit with Ezekiel, Genesis, Proverbs, and other places. The praying is key. About a year and a half ago, I prayed with my kids that the Lord would show us what it meant that the prophecies of Daniel were sealed until the end. The Lord has largely revealed this, and continues to reveal more as we go along. He directed me to this website and a number of other places where people were discussing prophecy. It's a noble and good thing you want to do, I'm just not sure the extent to which I can do it exactly as you say. . . I think for myself I have to continue to build and tweak the understanding I already have--replacing things whenever I find a better or clearer interpretation. Rt's teaching has opened my understanding of Revelation a good bit (I was already quite familiar with the book) and I always enjoy finding new insights from the Greek or Hebrew. Studying things out on one's own is always a good idea, and so is collaborating with others. . . both yield great results, especially coupled with the leading of the Holy Spirit. But to make the most of your challenge, I'm going to seriously ask God again tonight to please reveal to me, to you, and to all of us, the important things we are missing, through His Word.

Yes, I agree that it is very important to study the scripture and learn from God through the power of the Holy spirit. We also need to glean from what others have learned and grow in the word.
We need to be backing up our opinions with scripture when we post things. I fall short sometimes because I assume that others already know the scripture verse. This may not be the case. Understanding God's prophetic word can at times be complicated because there are so many pieces to the puzzle . It can be confusing to a new believer and it could just come across as an opinion, even though it is found in scripture. It takes more work to find the verse and make a point while not taking it out of context. I am going to work on this myself.
I do believe that many people's eyes are finally opening now because of what God is revealing to us by signs. Especially, all the signs in the heavens. It is amazing to me how the revelation 12 sign is actually happening soon and can be proven in scripture . God bless.

One thing I would recommend for you, Beloved, is to create a document of some kind--whether written in a notebook or typed into an Excel spreadsheet or other such thing, even OneNote or Word, just something to help keep your thoughts organized and with the ability to expand as you gather information--and go verse by verse through the book of Revelation, laying out how you feel the events in the prophecies occur timelinewise and listing the chapter and verse numbers that refer to each event. Then, add what you discover when reading through the book of Daniel. Then, from there, as you read through each of the New Testament books and each of the Old Testament books, add in the verses you discover there. I did this quite some time ago and found myself amazed at all the intricate prophetic connections between the Bible's Old and New Testament books, and it helped me to sort out a great many questions I had about the timing of events and so on.

Beloved, your challenge speaks directly to my heart! I have felt this "strong guidance" for a long time now that we should be questioning everything... EVERYTHING! Never to take anything we hear as absolute truth... I feel a strong connection here... I believe that Danial 9 and Revelation 12 are brother and sister prophecies... I take your challenge! Little teaser... I think I found the Dragon.... will post to you alone within 2 days privately... if we both agree... we post the dragon together! Keep running... Keep praying... Brad

I agree. I am also looking forward to what brad and beloved find together about the dragon. It is a missing piece that I am very intrigued about.
I am going to start a thread on ` the white horse' soon. There are around 3 or 4 different points of view, maybe more ,that scholars and teachers of the word believe as truth. I really am not sure which stance is the correct one from scripture.
I have an open mind more than ever before about the end times. I do not want to ' be stuck' in a traditional view about things either. This forum has helped me tremendously just to do that.
We need to remember that the most important thing we must do as Christ followers is to help bring someone to Jesus, maybe by just planting a seed. This can be achieved through diligent study prayer. I many times will pray before I post something to make sure that what I say can be used by God for His glory. It is all about Him. I also will be praying that God will be honored. Thank you for starting this thread Beloved !

Beloved/Brad,
I started such as the very thing that you were describing a few months back. It will give me something to grow on using your new resource for Greek study. Oddly, I just asked a pastor what was the best Greek reference book to study from, and he could not give me one! LOL. So thanks beloved, for you supplied me with an answered prayer request!!
Good points made by all. I too have been assuming that everyone understands the scriptures that I speak of. And I need to slow down and post them.

Yes, this is a great idea! I would say I'm trying my best to do this on an ongoing like watchmanjim mentioned. We always need to humble ourselves before God's Word, recognizing that we can be in error, but His Word cannot.

Yes I use E-sword on my PC on a daily basis. Any time I quote scripture on here, I pull it directly from there.

Rt has done this, and actually inspired me to do this. I am starting mine as soon as I can. Let's see what we can learn from God, eh? Who's with me? Let's see what God can unseal for us. I have to say I am honored to have inspired such a quest. But let me say that I have been on this journey for ten years now and I still find myself revising my thoughts regarding prophecy. I belong to another prophecy site where early on in my journey I participated in some pretty heavy debates. I learned a lot from debating ideas with others, even though it at times was frustrating. I always tried and still do try to keep an open mind. There is just so much I don't know, so much none of us can know. In the end I am always driven back to God's word. I still have many questions that remain unanswered. Admittedly even though I spent thousands of hours in study (literally) I could be way off base on some of my conclusions. So please by all means study for yourselves. Another thing that helped me immensely is bible study software. I use Logos, which can be pricey, it is used by many Pastors. If you are serious about studying scripture, it is an awesome tool to have, with a library of knowledge at your fingertips: dictionaries, lexicons, commentaries, various bible translations, Strong's Greek and Hebrew, maps, and great search tools plus more. If you can't afford it, there are also helpful bible study tools for free online if you take the time to look for them. I would add that my search for understanding prophecy led me on a journey through the Old Testament, the Law, a study of the Tabernacle and the Temple, Daniel (which I still have a hard time getting my head wrapped around) Ezekiel and the other prophets. Like others have said, prophecy is linked throughout scripture. It is the promised culmination of God's ultimate plan for mankind. It is His-story which has a beginning, middle and end. To understand the ending, you have to read the rest of the book. It really is beautiful how it all works together so perfectly. All these authors over so many years, in agreement. It boggles my mind, and makes heart leap for joy over knowing that God is in it, His word is alive, it breathes, it speaks, it inspires, it is awesome!!!! I have been a believer for 40 years this year, and for 30 of those years my faith rested primarily on the teaching of others, there is nothing wrong with that. But through a series of circumstances the Lord led me to study for myself and it changed my spiritual life forever. It was as if the Holy Spirit compelled me onto a path of hunger for God's word and understanding. Now I would not recommend throwing out everything you have learned from others. There is much wisdom out there and many who have studied for themselves who have great insights into God's word, no need to throw the baby out with the bath water so to speak. When I studied and compared what others had concluded, some things just didn't sit right in my mind. That is what drove me to search for answers that fit, at least to me. If someone can show me how my conclusions don't fit, I want them to do so. One thing I tell myself, is that I believe I know a few things. I got some things right, but I definitely have not arrived.
