During my study of Revelation, I seem to have had a few of my own. I have read this book at least a dozen times in the past months, but recently a few oddities began to pop out at me.

You are basically right on this, though you divide it into two sections at an incorrect point, at least here on page 1. The KEY to getting the timing right is understanding how it's divided, and which chapters have 1260 day lengths in them or
1260 KEYS. I will just do a quick overview and I can unravel it all later.
I.) Rev. 1 is Jesus as seen in all his Glory (by the Disciples/John) thus the Things which you HAVE SEEN.
II.) Rev. 2 and 3 cover the Church Age we are in now, thus the things WHICH ARE.
III.) Rev. 4 and 5 are the Raptured Church in Heaven. In Rev. 4:4 we see the promises to the 7 Churches who overcome in Rev. 2:10 (Crowns) Rev. 3:5 (Robes/Raiment) and in Rev. 3:21 (they sit at God's Throne). Thus these chapters after Rev. 4:1 (Come up here) are the HEREAFTER. In Rev. 5:9-10 they are called Kings and Priests, under the blood.
IV.) Rev. 6 is the opening of the Sealed Judgments (Trumpets). The Seals are not Judgments, Jesus only tells of what this scroll of Judgments will bring when it is finally opened up. Seals had a purpose, they sealed the messages until all the seals were taken off. Thus as Jesus opens Seal 1-5 he prophesies 5 things about the coming Anti-Christ which will happen of his 42 month reign. He 1. Conquers fir 42 months 2. Brings Wars for 42 months 3. Which brings Famine for 42 months 4. He brings Death and Sickness over 42 months, which brings many graves (Hades). 5 He Martyrs those who come unto Christ during the 70th week, after the Raptured Church is taken to heaven.
Seal 6 is likewise a prophesy by Jesus, the last one before the Scroll of Judgments is opened, but this time Jesus is foretelling what God's Wrath will look like over the coming 42 months as it falls on mankind. Thus Jesus here, makes the same prophetic utterance that Joel 2:31 makes, but this is mere days if not minutes before the Wrath falls, where as Joel prophecy was 2500 or so years ago. The Sun and Moon go dark. This happens because of an Asteroid Impact (Mountain) in Rev. 8, so it is future tense !! So, why does God's Wrath and the Anti-Christs reign seem to cover the exact same 42 month time period? Because it does, Satan is very wise strategist, we should know, look at how he has deceived mankind in his Babylon the Great world that we live in, he gets them to fight their own loving Creator. Thus Stan whispers unto the Little Horn to WAIT, for the Wrath to fall, then 1/3 of the world is not only taken out for you, you can go forth conquering amidst great chaos, and after a might power has been taken out, I think the 1/3 is the USA via the Pacific Realm that is taken out by God's Wrath. Russia, Turkey and Iran's armies get taken out in the Gog Magog war, this E.U. Anti-Christ will be able to do as he pleases !! That is why he WAITS....Daniel 8:23 says he hears DARK SENTENCES (Riddles) and thus he hears Satan's voice, who guides him in these ways. Seal #7 happens over in Rev. 8 for a reason, it opens up the Trumpet Judgments, Jesus thus is silent, Judgment is at hand, there is nothing left to be prophesied.
Rev. 7 goes along with this section, like The Woman in Rev. 12, the 144,000 is merely a CODE WORD for All Israel who repent, thus here they are fleeing Judea unto the Mountains. They are Male virgins (the first of God) the Church are the Bride, but both of course have males and females in them. Its just metaphoric in nature. 10 is the number for Completeness, 12 the number for Fullness, thus 12 x 12 x 10 x 10 x 10 simple means God's is OVER EMPHASIZING this is ALL Israel who repent. In Rev. 7-8-17 we see the Church who were Raptured out of the 2000 some odd year Church Age tribulations, as in 2000>7.
V. In Rev, 8 the Trumpet Judgments come next, things are much less complicated from here on, I have to explain the Seals because people do not grasp they are not Judgments, but a Sealed Scroll of Judgments with Jesus Prophesying future coming events. Here, the Fire comes in and burns 1/3 of the Trees, the Sea gets HURT and the earth gets Hurt, that is why God told the Angel to HURT NOT, the Earth Sea nor Trees until the 144,000 were protected (in the Petra/Bozrah area). The Asteroid Impact then hits in the Sea via the 2nd Trump. The 3rd Trump is the same asteroid, but it is describing the Nuclear Fallout (Wormwood). And the Fourth Trumpet Judgment is both the 6th Seal Prophecy AND Joel's 2:31 Prophesy coming to pass, the Sun and Moon goes dark, and of course the moon looks blood red, after all 1/3 of the earth is ablaze, the moon will have a red glow or a red haze to it no doubt!! Rev. 8:13 says the Last Three Woes will come with the sounding of the final Three Trumps, Woe, Woe, Woe.
Rev. 9 has the 1st Woe ad the 2nd Woe. The first Woe is a horde of Demons released from the bottomless pit (Rev. 18:2). The 2nd Woe is a 200 Million Army of Angels that brings plagues onto ONLY THOSE who took the Mark of the Beast, thus this is not Satan's doings. The Angels are bound to a PLACE and TIME around the river Euphrates.
Rev. 15 and 16 wrap up the rule of Satan on this earth, Babylon Falls, it is done !! Rev. 15 happens in Heaven, but since the Angels are readying the 7 Vials in heaven, I put them together. Rev. 16 is the 3rd Woe, it arrives via the 7th Trump as Rev, 8:13 says. The 3rd Woe has 7 Vials of God's Wrath. The 6th Vial is the WHOLE WORLD fighting against their own Creator, thus in Rev. 16:19 when Jesus defeats them, God calls them Babylon the Great at the 7th Vial Victory !! Amen. Babylon Falls.
Section Two, the Parenthetical Citation Chapters.
A.) Rev. 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18 and most of 19 are Parenthetical Citation chapters which have events that happened during the Judgment Chapters 42 months. A couple cover the full 7 years, one chapter (Rev. 11) starts 75 days before the Middle of the week because the Two-witnesses show up at the 1335, which is 75 days before the 1260.
B.) These Chapters cover the 42 months via KEYS...Rev. 1o is about the 7 Trumpets sounding, or God's Wrath which lasts 42 months.
Rev. 11 I spoke of, that is the Two-witnesses Ministry on earth chapter.
Rev. 12, 13 17 and 18 all cover the exact same 42 months, we can tell via all the KEYS. The Dragon in Rev. 12 chases the Woman or 42 months. In Rev. 13 we know the Beast rules for 42 months. In Rev. 17:12 we see the 10 kings rule with the Beast for ONE HOUR, and thus we know that means 42 months. In Rev. 18 we have quite a few KEYS about the 42 months which used to go over my head. In Rev. 18:2 it says Babylon is now the Habitation of devils, well, Satan is cast down to earth and Apollyon and his demons released, so, yes Babylon (this whole world under Satan's rule) is indeed inhabited by devils for 42 months. In Rev. 18:4 we see God says COME OUT of her my people, that you do not partake in her (Babylon/WORLDS) sins nor in her plagues. This is God calling Israel to flee at the AoD event, telling them them to flee unto the Wilderness or Mountains of Petra/Bozrah. In Rev. 18:8 and 18:10 we see Babylon is destroyed on ONE DAY and in ONE HOUR. Both of these equal 42 months, the Day of the Lord lasts 42 months, and in Rev. 17:12 we saw ONE HOUR means 42 months.
Rev. 14 is The Harvest Chapter. It shows the Wheat (Israel) Harvest as Jesus returns in Rev. 14:1 the 144,000, and the Grape Harvest of the Wicked in Rev. 14:17-20. But in a FLASHBACK, it also shows the Barley Harvest via H=Jesus upon a cloud. So, thus chapter covers a full 7 years, as does Rev. 19, we see the Bride in Heaven BEFORE she marries the Lamb (the Bride and Groom stay in the Marriage chambers for 7 years) and then the Bride returns with Jesus to defeat the Beat and all his minions who are still on earth at that time. A little bit of Rev. 7 stretches into the 1000 year reign in that Jesus casts the Anti-Christ and False Prophet into hellfire, so they as men must be judged first. Rev. 20, 21 and 22 is the Judgment Seat, the Ever-after and New Jerusalem.
