There is already a thread going on different plagues breaking out, but I thought it would be good to start a sticky specifically for CV as this is going to be a growing issue in the coming weeks. Feel free to add updates, preparedness suggestions, etc. The news today is that cases are now surging in Italy, South Korea, Singapore, and Iran. The death to recovery ratio is concerning, especially now that we have more data outside of China. Deaths have been reported aboard the cruise ship, Italy, Taiwan, the Philippines, and just today 50 in Qom, Iran. Worldometers has a CV page with worldwide statistics that is continually updated: www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

www.foxnews.com/health/coronavirus-disruption-in-us-might-be-severe-cdc-official-saysThe CDC is anticipating disruption in every day life. My husband has asked that we store food and water. We have no storage right now. I have also been buying generic OTC cold and flu medication. I am also thinking of pre-paying my utilities in case his work dries up. We lost our house and car in the Recession. I am distraught that I didn't learn from that and start food storage.

It's surreal. By day I play architect and work on my projects...building things knowing the futility of it all...and by night I follow the last few seconds of this age. Checked on a job this morning...had to verify some dimensions and on the way home, had the odd thought to stop and buy canned food and water! I didn't, but it came out of no where...might not be a bad idea, huh?
I've had the strangest feeling about this CV thing. Could this be the last big "event" we see?
Great updates here:

I didn't, but it came out of no where...might not be a bad idea, huh? I've had the strangest feeling about this CV thing. Could this be the last big "event" we see? Great updates here: I think you may be correct, whether or not it's the last big thing, I'm on the fence. But the CV is very different. By trade, I am a data analyst, and the even massaged numbers initially pointed to exponential growth of the virus. The numbers coming out of South Korea seems to point to this being the case. When you just look at the math, its absolutely terrifying. The math aside, Dan Matson at Signs of The End found something moments ago - on 2/2/18, the Dow dropped 666 points. 666 days later? 12/1/19 - the first case of CV. Many of us have been watching long enough to know that is probably not just a coincidence. What's more, that day, the market dropped to 25520 that day, which was also 2520 days after Fukishima. It was also 25520 after the vernal equinox in 1948. I am of the opinion that the process has begun (not the Trib), but I think we have crossed the Rubicon so to speak. I don't think we ever return to a "normal state." I think it only gets worse, and quickly, from here. If we see the signs (CV, earthquakes, locust plagues, not to mention the nascent deal of the century), and we see calamity coming, we know how much closer our blessed hope is.

I am actually trying to eat down my stockpiles right now. I have a lot of food in my freezers and pantry and have been trying to not spend money on new groceries.
I usually get spend happy when there is a caselot sale. Somehow, I missed picking up the mail, and didn't go to the grocery store for an entire week, so I actually missed out on the sale. I take that as a sign not to stockpile because if God truly wanted me to stock up with more supplies, he would have let me know. Lol
One of the missionaries my church supports is in Italy. She is one town over from the outbreak there. They have closed schools and she is helping out a family in the church with childcare there. I am praying for her as she is older and it is a challenge to keep children inside all day, day after day.

I decided a long time ago that we would not be "preppers". We are just going to rely on Jesus to take care of us, because He always has. But I may go get a few sensible supplies for the short term just in case we need to endure for a while longer, possibly for a quarantine of 2 - 3 weeks.
I fear for my wife most. She has COPD and probably could not fight this thing off. Praying every day that we are both living until the day Jesus gives the shout. But you know, it doesn't matter. If we die, then we will be among those who rise first!

I have wondered if we should stockpile not for ourselves but for those left behind. Perhaps we should leave supplies to sustain life. People will need to survive long enough to accept Christ. Some will not accept immediately. God knows who will come to Him. Perhaps He will lead them to our stockpiles and that wakes them up?
What are your thoughts?

tlwald, I think you should do as the Lord leads. Pray about it. I'd say if you have the space and finances then maybe He will lead you that way. Maybe also consider creating a first aid kit.

This is such a difficult subject for me because there is no room for error. Please consider how we have repeatedly miscalculated the time of the rapture even to this very day. So if this CV affects the economy to the point of a contraction then it may be the case that we are to rely upon some food reserves. In fact, such was the case for Noah and we are told to consider the last days events to be like the time of Noah. Thus, we should perhaps gather to our homes some food storage like Noah did to the Ark.
One of my friends who lives out-a-ways goes to the store a few times a year. So, she always buys in bulk and something like CV does not effect her.
On the other hand, some of my extended family lives pay check to pay check. I feel that it is my responsibility to consider them in my meal preparations. Not that I prepare food for them but that I may need to at some point. So, I have a few bags of 25 lb rice on hand among other things. Rice is a great food to fill up the children's bellies and add a can of soup and there is a meal for several people. You can not do that with wheat.

Costco has this item for $10 to $25. In what area of the country you live? Do you have family nearby that you can rely upon? Can you set aside a few 5 gal. buckets of water? The containers are cheap at Home Depot etc. and you can add 8 drops of bleach per gallon as a preservative. I recently dumped some of my 5 gallon pails that I set aside several (12) years ago and they were crystal clear. Great looking water and smelled fresh too. Several of these containers were older paint buckets that I had cleaned up. Not the best but they were available at the time. Please do not delay to prepare for the next downturn in the economy. Get some food and water now.

Very interesting twist if true: Israeli scientists are on the cusp of developing the first vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to Science and Technology Minister Ofir Akunis. If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available in 90 days, according to a release. “Congratulations to MIGAL [The Galilee Research Institute] on this exciting breakthrough,” Akunis said. “I am confident there will be further rapid progress, enabling us to provide a needed response to the grave global COVID-19 threat,” Akunis said, referring to the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. www.jpost.com/HEALTH-SCIENCE/Israeli-scientists-In-three-weeks-we-will-have-coronavirus-vaccine-619101

I remain a cautious skeptic. The media and the left is always looking for any and every possibility to cause panic and blame Trump. As of now, the total number of deaths worldwide is not even remotely close to the number of flu deaths just in the USA alone. We have 1 death in the entire USA. Fewer than 100 in all of Europe. I think this is way overblown, but i could be wrong. Looking at the US stock market, the last 8 days have been a bloodbath. Nearly every single sector besides pharmaceutical has taken a huge hit. But the market is reacting to the hype. Every major stock market plunge has seen the market rebound stronger and higher, usually within 6 months.
We'll have a much better idea in 1 month. By 1st of April. Viruses tend to be worse in the winter and less worse in the spring/ warm weather.

It is a shame that the media has blown this up to the level its at disciple4life. And the bigger "Ah Ha!" moment I just had was "Imagine if the media/world compared the rapid descent of our culture, morals and society to the Word of God and truly realized the grave sitaution this creation is in. Thanks be to God that our Savior is coming to restore order. Maranatha!
