The Pentagon believes using nuclear weapons could “create conditions for decisive results and the restoration of strategic stability”, according to a new nuclear doctrine adopted by the US joint chiefs of staff last week.

The document, entitled Nuclear Operations, was published on 11 June, and was the first such doctrine paper for 14 years. Arms control experts say it marks a shift in US military thinking towards the idea of fighting and winning a nuclear war – which they believe is a highly dangerous mindset.

BAGHDAD (AP) — Dozens of Iraqi Shiite militiamen and their supporters broke into the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad on Tuesday, smashing a main door and setting fire to a reception area, angered over deadly U.S. airstrikes targeting the Iran-backed militia. U.S. guards fired tear gas and palls of smoke rose over the grounds.

An Associated Press reporter at the scene saw flames rising from inside the compound and at least three U.S. soldiers on the roof of the main embassy building. There was a fire at the reception area near the compound’s parking lot but it was unclear what had started it. A man on a loudspeaker urged the mob not to enter the compound, saying: “The message was delivered.”

There were no reports of casualties, but the unprecedented breach was one of the worst attacks on the embassy in recent memory. It followed deadly U.S. airstrikes on Sunday that killed 25 fighters of the Iran-backed militia in Iraq, the Kataeb Hezbollah. The U.S. military said the airstrikes were in retaliation for last week’s killing of an American contractor in a rocket attack on an Iraqi military base that it had blamed on the militia.

The U.S. airstrikes — the largest targeting an Iraqi state-sanctioned militia in recent years — and the subsequent calls by the militia for retaliation, represent a new escalation in the proxy war between the U.S. and Iran playing out in the Middle East.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday’s strikes send the message that the U.S. will not tolerate actions by Iran that jeopardize American lives.

The U.S. attack also outraged the Iraqi government, which said it will reconsider its relationship with the U.S.-led coalition — the first time it has said it will do so since an agreement was struck to keep some U.S. troops in the country. It called the attack a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty.

Interestingly, with Bush senior and junior we had to have other supporting nations patting us on the back; even though we were in the right.

They, senior and junior gave us the "thousand points of light" and "the religion of peace." I still do not know what the thousand points of light were; but, the religion of peace: yes.

Clinton gave us "I did not have sex with that woman." I guess it was a make love not war kind of thing.

Reagan was "Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall."

Nixon was "I am not a crook."

Eisenhower was "Beware of the military industrial complex." Then came "who murdered Kennedy" and the war with Vietnam was "on" and Johnson's filthy mouth. Get it? Don't we all know this by now? But no, Trump would not release the information that had been sealed for 50 plus years at whose request?

Truman was "The buck stops here." He was perhaps the president with the greatest integrity although he had been an attorney for the mob (as I recall), so the bar is set kind-of low.

Carter was "the student hostages" in Iran and his attempts to secure their release. He paid a substantial amount of money to that nation as one of his last acts as president and that, not Reagan, secured their release. Although, the release of the students was attributed to Reagan's threat to Iran prior to his inauguration. Yet, Reagan became embroiled in the Iran/Contra affair. You know, send aircraft parts to Iran and take the money from that sale to finance the war in El Salvador.

Ford was "a fill-in" to the presidency for congress. What did Ford do if anything? He did get along with congress very well as I recall. I think everyone liked Ford after Nixon's grand ordeal.

Obama gave the billions to Iran: cargo planes filled with pallets of cash.

So now the war is clearly in sight and this will be Trump's legacy. FDR would be proud; a visionary dictator of sorts but he was one of the greats: four terms and absolute power during WWII.

Hoover and the bonus army; dogged out by the old soldier that never dies but just fades away. For those who do not know this story the WWI soldiers were promised a bonus if they survived the war and the next 20 years or so. Thus if fell upon Hoover to pay the dept (1930's) and he could not secure the money. In response they, the WWI soldiers set up tent cities in and around DC. Hoover sent in the troops to clear out the tent cities and several WWI soldiers were killed by the army that they had served in; and this secured FDR's election.

The third world war will be the charm and it is almost here. Be secure in your faith and do not doubt. Christ is the God of this earth and has us all securely in his hand (Isa. 18:4).

That cloud of dew (Christ) will be our refreshing as the harvest moves forward.
