I've noticed on sites like Finishing the Task and the Joshua Project, that they feel that around 1,510 people groups around the world have still not been reached with the gospel. That is far less than a few years ago. However, didn't Jesus say that He wouldn't return until the whole world had been reached with the gospel? How do we reconcile that with the thought that the Rapture is right on the doorstep?

The whole world has been reached, but the world has dispersed and not every 2017 people group has been reached, but they were at one time or another. Some a long time ago, before the great dispersion of the last 500 years.

One explanation I have heard is that the angel in Revelation (I don't know which chapter at the moment) that flies through the sky proclaims the Gospel to the whole world before the Second Coming occurs.

Yes, this is also what I understand, Natalie!

The whole world will be reached before the second coming, not the rapture. This will be largely due to the 144000 converted Jews (who emerge after the rapture) and become totally sold out to Christ and spread the message. I've seen it compared to having 144000 Billy Grahams loose on the earth.

How do we reconcile that with the thought that the Rapture is right on the doorstep? Hello Linda, It's a great thread, and a very good topic to think through and discuss. It is a huge piece in the Eschatology puzzle, and it is largely ignored. So sad that Pyramid angles and Planet X theories that are based on zero evidence from scripture, and that violate logic, common sense and sound Hermeneutics get much more 'buzz' and attraction than this. ;-) I'm a Scots-Irish-French-Jewish-American missionary in one of the most unreached countries on earth and this is very near to me personally.
Here's a few ideas, but I'm really hoping others will share their thoughts too - as we all share pieces of the puzzle and by joining my piece with yours, and SilentKnight, and Natalie, and Paulwatchmandawson, KJS, Missusmack, Prof, Whatif, Yardstick, Mike and so many others, we learn together. - Some have said that this is fulfilled now, in the last two decades, with the advent of live streaming, and smart-phones, RSS feeds, and that there are thousands of sources of Gospel, including You-Tube, Socialmedia, and instagram, FB, and radio - not even counting the printed scriptures.
- Another thought is the passage from Romans 1, where it says that the created world - Sun, Moon, stars and order/ precision tuning of the Universe, Fibonacci sequence found all across the planet, from the sea to the stars - that there is evidence for the Creator, so that no one has excuse.
- Another similar theory/ concept is actually in a book - "The Gospel in the Stars" - that all the constellations - that are being discussed by millions of people related to the Revelation 12 sign tell the Gospel story, and this story happens over and over and over, in every culture and people group under heaven.
- ***Satan/ the enemy has NO Original Material/ NO Raw material to create - He can only steal and pervert - thus the astrology - zodiac. Think about it - He twisted and perverted Sex, and the Rainbox, and on and on.
- Other missiology experts have written multiple books on this - and this is an awesome topic - You or I should do a thread - Redemptive analogies - Analogies that God has placed in primitive, remote and tribal cultures across the globe that point to Christ and Salvation. The entire book and concept of Peace Child, (and the book) was a redemptive analogy that God put in violent cannibal pagan tribes in Africa.
- The Oldest language in the World - Chinese has loads of Redemptive analogies - The word Righteous in Chinese uses the characters "Lamb" over "Me".
- There is a word/ character in Chinese for boat, but ship - is a Boat- with 8 people in it. ;-) Just wow.
- Multiple tribes and cultures around the world have the story of the Great Flood. From Asian, to Native American, to Eskimo, to African Tribes. In order for a legend to be Permanently fixed in a culture, [Like the Loch Ness] it needs to be told and retold, and retold for five generations 30-40 years each gen. 150-200 years of the same story being repeated. Just Wow. !!

I've seen it compared to having 144000 Billy Grahams loose on the earth. Fantastic point, my brother. This is incredible.
In the last 15 years, with the advent of the smart-phone, and lnstagram, and live feeds, think of all the people on the globe that will know about the rapture, and when all the babies are missing from every culture, - Muslim, Hindu, Atheist, Catholic, etc. and the "Christians" who were tortured or labeled as freaks- 'enemies of the state' etc. People will start connecting the dots.
This is another very very powerful argument for the pre-tribulation rapture. The media will never NEVER admit this- thus some other Official Explanation - my personal view is that they will "Explain it all away as an Alien/ UFO abduction". Just think about the scores and scores of movies, TV shows, and 'sighting's in the past 20 years. They will say - "We knew, all along [Area 51] Hello. But we just didn't want to make a world-wide panic."
Plus, there are the millions of people who heard the Gospel - raised in church, or knew about Christianity -but rejected it. I have 4 or 5 examples in my own family - nieces and nephews. Many even know scripture or went to Bible school, heard about the rapture from their Crazy Aunt Angela, or Uncle Fred, etc.

D4L, thank you for sharing those wonderful examples. Those 2 examples of Chinese characters really make you wonder about the story behind how they came about. From what I've read, there are many Christians in China, but they are persecuted and have to meet secretly. Just like in Muslim countries. But God always seems to find a way. I've really been inspired reading all the reports of Muslims coming to Christ after having dreams of Him calling them to Himself. Missionaries can't get into most of those countries, so He is evangelizing them through dreams. It gives new meaning to: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions." - Joel 2:28

www.gospel-kingdom.com/pb/wp_1f646e18/wp_1f646e18.htmlThe Gospel of Salvation has already been preached to every nation. Acts 2: NKJV
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven... 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs--we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God." 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?" 14 But Peter... raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.
Here in Acts 2, there were Jews in Jerusalem from EVERY NATION. Yes that's right, every nation. Toss out your history lessons. Mankind was traveling the globe at this time period, at least to those places that had nations. And so, a representative of every nation heard the gospel preached by Peter starting in verse 14. Many of the nations are even listed in verses 9-11. These Jews more than likely went back to their nations to speak about this news. You can't believe it? Want more scriptures? Ok... Rom 10: NKJV
13 For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: "Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world."
Here's another verse on the subject: Rom 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
So the Gospel of Salvation was preached in every nation by the time the book of Romans was written. This was done by the disciples and/or the Jews who heard it in Jerusalem. Many ministries and churches are taking this verse... Math 24:14: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
...and are preaching the Gospel of Salvation, thinking they are fulfilling that verse. Very few preach the Gospel of the Kingdom. To be in the Kingdom requires more than basic salvation. If you haven't read part 1 of the Gospel of the Kingdom: gospel-kingdom.com/pb/wp_979468c0/wp_979468c0.htmlI have discovered (as of Oct 21, 04), that there is archeological evidence that indeed the Jews/Israelites/Hebrews were in North America before the founding of the United States. This evidence is in the form of a large rock with Hebrew writing listing the 10 Commandments. This is NOT Moses' list he put in the Ark, but simply a monument testifying to the fact the Jews indeed have proclaimed the gospel to every nation generations ago. Here are some links to this astounding archeological find: economics.sbs.ohio-state.edu/jhm/arch/loslunas.htmlwww.science-frontiers.com/sf043/sf043p02.htmweb.archive.org/web/20080511202308/http://our.homewithgod.com/bibletruths/LosLunas.htmlThere is other evidence of the Hebrews in early America as well: www.econ.ohio-state.edu/jhm/arch/decalog.htmlBy the way, it is my belief that many early nations or kingdoms were indeed traveling to the Americas, not just the Jews. There is evidence that the Romans were here and others. Often we are blinded by what the world teaches us that we don't even realize it! So sometimes, it helps to just read the scriptures, and close off our understanding of what we have been told by the world.
