Hi fellow Watchers,
Long time lurker, first time poster. As a huge prophecy buff since I was in high school in the late 90's, I am sad to say that I'm a little late to the REV12 party. Over the last few months, I've binged on all the information that I could (except the hour long videos on YouTube) and anticipate visiting sites like this one each day.
There's SO much more I could ask and say, but before I do there's a question that I have not seen addressed anywhere else...
With just over 4 days to go, how can we (personally) view the sign outside of Stellarium? Will it be visible to the naked eye or only through a telescope? Further more, will it even be visible from the US or just mainly in Israel? Please forgive me, I'm not well versed on astronomy.
And, if it's only visible by telescope, why would God hide it from most of the world that way?
Of course, the possibility that it might actually be a visible, supernatural image in the sky (visible to all) is not lost on me either...

Welcome!
I have Stellarium and played around with it just now. I couldn't find any location in the U.S. where the alignment will be visible on the 23rd. You have to set the location to Jerusalem, Israel (or somewhere nearby in the Middle East, like Iran).
I'm not an expert, but they'll be able to see each half of the alignment with the naked eye before sunrise, then after sunset. At sunrise in the Eastern sky, mostly only Leo (making up part of the crown of 12 stars above Virgo) is visible. Virgo moves into view along with the sun (since Virgo is literally "clothed" with the sun - making it impossible to see the rest of the alignment with the naked eye after that). Then, at sunset in the Western sky, Leo is below the horizon and Virgo is in view (with the moon at her feet).

So the fact that it's only viewable in Israel reinforces the fact that the sign really is for the Jews.
What still doesn't add up in my mind is why would God make it so hard to see? I don't think the average person in Israel (or anywhere) has any clue what's going on, and if they're not well versed in astronomy, certainly wouldn't be watching before sunrise.
Is the "Great Sign" just geared towards the Orthodox Jews and Priests who know scripture? Otherwise, if God's trying to send a message to Israel, wouldn't it be "wasted" (not that anything God does goes to waste)?
Just thinking out loud, I guess...

Hi Anyday! Welcome to this family here!
I had those thoughts, too. Here is something to ponder: How did the Wisemen know the Star of Bethlehem? Where is the Scripture pointing this prophesy to them? I will admit I have never looked for it in the OT, but have not come across it by those who have studied the Wiseman. What I was told about the wisemen is that we do not know a lot about them. Yet we can reference a timeline by what was written about them, which I think is prophetic in itself.
Wisemen were looking for the sign and found it. It does not seem Israel was looking for a celestial sign when Jesus was born. We Believer-Watchmen are looking for it, and someone else will have to answer from the Jewish perspective if there has been active search for the Messiah independent of Christians. Watchers are finding it!
Nonetheless, we are in the 21st century with technology. Even with that, and the internet to spread the good news, STILL, there are even Christians who don't care, debunk or scoff the Sign conversation. If it were in the sky at night for all to see it would not matter, in my humble opinion.
That is my 2 cents...for what its worth
MARANATHA!

Hey barbiosheepgirl, some scholars say that the wise men may have gotten their info from Num 24:17 but I find that to be a real streach
