I came across an old rerun of Law and Order S19E16 titled Rapture.
I did not watch it, other than maybe five minutes that I saw when I first turned on the TV.
That five minutes was enough to let me know a few things .... Primary theme was about the Rapture, most of the characters who brought onto the case had enough knowledge of it (the topic) to make snide comments about it.
Only got a general grasp of the show, before turning to the news - which is why I even turned on TV. It sounded like three individuals ran a web service that would email out last emails to loved once the rapture had occurred. The solution for knowing when to send out the emails was straight forward ... If two of the three owners of the site failed to log onto the site for two days, than the service would send out the emails.
In the show one of the owners was murdered and one owner was located with no internet access, allowing the emails to get sent. I stopped watching at that point.
My point of this post, has to do with the snide comments made by the various characters brought in to investigate the murder.....
One, there were quite a number of these comments .... The "best of them" (as in not to derogatory) had believers in the rapture on the same level as tin hat wearing people ready for green men to invade from out of space.
Two, most had a fairly strong grasp of what the Rapture would mean - disappearance of people who were taken straight to heaven
Three, shortly after the rapture - the world will end in a series of calamities......
I know there has been much speculation on what will people left behind think after the rapture. Based on this shows storyline, it appears many people already have a fair grasp about the rapture event is all about --- even though they do not believe in it.
Are people going to experience a loss of even this basic knowledge .... After the rapture? Their knowledge might not be 100% complete, but based of the show they were at least 80% aware of it .... Even though they mainly made fun of it.
As we enter the possible final week, before the rapture .... I am wondering of ways to get the truth out to people who are left behind.
