Greetings, fellow watchers. This morning, I asked Yeshua for encouragement, and He gave it to me from an unexpected place. I happened to be reading 2 John 1 in my personal studies, and just saw something. I googled it to see if anyone else had seen the same thing, but didn't find anyone with all the same sentiments: - The elder == the 24 elders, the body of Yeshua, the man child (Rev 4, 12)
- the lady chosen by God == Israel (Rev 12)
- her children == tribulation saints (Rev 12)
- deceiver, the antichrist == satan (Rev 12)
- what we have worked for == the sowing by the body of Yeshua (Matt 20, John 4, etc.)
- visit you and talk with you face to face == in the throne room? (Rev 7, 1 Cor 13, John 16, etc.)
- The children of your sister == those from Judah? (Jer 3) ...could use a 2nd opinion
With this in mind, it seems like 2 John 1 could be an exhortation to the tribulation saints. What do you think?

Hi daniel, I am not knowledgeable enough to say one way or another if 2 John is referring to the Rev 12 passage. I read it and I looked into some historical aspects of the letter to find out who the original audience was, which is unknown from what I read. I can see how certain aspects of it could lend itself to that interpretation (I read it before reading your analysis and had some similar thoughts to what you put forth). Maybe someone else with more bible history and theological experience than me can weigh in. But interesting catch!

I wish I had time to look into it more, but I will say, I have been thinking a lot lately about how the Bible will open up in new ways to those who read it and are saved "ATR." Quite possibly the Holy Spirit will open up entirely new themes and relevant passages to them that we look over and don't get a whole lot from right now.

I totally agree, watchmanjim. And not to veer too far off topic, but it hit me about 1-2 years ago that many of Yeshua's parables may find their ultimate fulfillment with the Jews and/or Tribulation Saints during the 70th week, though we glean and learn from them as His Body now (and sometimes, perhaps it's a duality).

The more I study the Bible, the more I realize the multi-level, multi-application nature of the text. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes not so much. To get the most out of any Biblical text, you need to consult the Holy Spirit--and compare the text with all the other text, with the understanding that the text is always right.
