I used to wonder, when I first started studying the rapture, how people left behind were going to stay in denial after all the Christians disappear. But now I have a few thoughts on how people might go on living after the rapture, and through the tribulation, without acknowledging God: - Some will be deceived into thinking missing people have been abducted by aliens.
- The media will say that it wasn't only Christians that were taken. Many believers live in countries that are dominated by a different religion. I can see the news saying Muslims, Buddhists, etc. were also taken (their families left behind may not have known the truth, or be trying to cover the fact that they'd abandoned their old beliefs for Christ).
- There will also be well known "Christians" still here, along with cult groups who also claim to believe in Jesus (though not the Jesus of the Bible) saying that not everyone who believes in Christ got taken.
- They will pull out old Christian literature where some claimed there would be no such thing as a rapture. And paint the belief in a literal rapture as a small, fringe cult within Christianity.
- They will downplay the number of people missing or claim a portion of people didn't disappear, but just got killed in the chaos surrounding people who went missing. Or maybe they'll claim that a segment of those missing killed themselves, like some doomsday cults.
- With the internet we feel very connected to things going on around the world. But what if such a catastrophic event occurred (like millions missing), that the internet was at least temporarily taken down - to stem the tide of reports coming out (and possibly scrub away references to September 23rd - if that indeed ends up being the day - having been speculated on)?
- People will also continue to blame all of the natural disasters and plague during the tribulation on global warming.
- And of course, there will be strong spiritual delusion that people will fall under. With no Christians (until tribulation saints start to be saved, and later, with the two witnesses) to counter the lies.

I have often pondered how the rapture would be explained away. You have very valid suggestions as well. I think that some other type of catastrophe could occur to also explain the disappearance of millions. Some estimates for the rapture were up to 2 billion, who knows. If that many it would be hard to "hide" the truth, so its likely the number is far less. A catastrophe or abduction or combo would be a delusion that would be accepted by those left.

Great points to think about. I didn't think about the "WorldwideWeb" being shut down, put it is entirely possible that it could be. They also could just block you from searching specific phrases- like the safe search features you can install right now, but it would be without your knowledge. Makes it ever so more important to be diligent in printing off information. Leaving behind a binder could make a difference for someone. I will need to do that this weekend. I've been procrastinating on starting one but it shouldn't be too hard as there are a lot of great articles and discussions that can be printed off of unsealed.

I lean toward the alien abduction or something along those lines being what Satan will use to deceive everyone. It blows my mind how many "adults" I know that actually believe in fairies and gnomes! If they can be that easily deceived then alien abduction won't be a far stretch to explain the disappearance of billions of people.

That is crazy but more and more people believe in weird things dont they. What they fail to realize is the deception behind and hollywood has made this all the more believeable You really think its going to be "billions"? I'm thinking much less like 150,000,000 to 200,000,000...perhaps more in areas that won't ever be reported on the old reliable news (like Africa, other 3rd world places, etc)

I have no clue about the number. How many people have really lived on this earth? How many actually accepted Christ? Your number may be closer to reality than mine. But this generation is so incredibly gullible that deception will not be difficult for Satan. He has them hanging on his every word already.

tlwald Oh No I must've misunderstood you. I was thinking alive only, not those who've passed. In another thread we were throwing around the idea of grave being open or not. Most likely they will open, and that would be more towards the billions 1.5 or 2 or 2.5 perhaps. I'm sure someone with a math understanding and a little population stats could provide some estimates. Anyway, yes totally people are way too gullible nowadays and would buy the alien thing. Unfortunately many without question. Although there will be the remnant of Israel and those who realize they've missed the "ark" who will begin to believe!!

If the rapture is accompanied by the massive earthquake in the sixth seal they might try and say the disappearances were casualties and maybe sucked into the earth to explain the missing bodies.

I posted this last night under the 70th week. I couldnt remember where we were discussing the possible explanations for missing people. Though I do agree with the 6th seal earthquake, I also think (as noted above) the "alien" theory is very likely.
The video starts off with the alien info, but he goes on a tangent for a good ten minutes. I recommend listening to the tangent as he does provide a very good spiritual reason for the division in the country.

I am under the the belief that Aliens will be blamed, too. I was a huge skeptic about aliens. Also felt they are demons, if nothing else. How could they not be?
We saw a documentary called Unacknowledged earlier this summer. It was the revealing of how our government, and others know about these things, even with letters written to higher ups concerning these ET's.. I saw this film AFTER having seen some stuff passed on thru the web via wikileeks, and the Podesta emails. Podesta is conversing with a nasa type person and supposidly to HRC about disclosing the ET's..to the public.
Perhaps this "email" chain was manufactured, but it sure paralleled this docu-film...AND there is a chapter in TW Tramm's book, Seasons.. 2012-2015 (paraphrased title), where he sites the UFO factor. In there he sites those who have been abducted. In reading their testimonies it also seemed to parallel the docufilm. (granted, some in the film were also referenced in tramm's book).
I would encourage people to see Unacknowledged. We rented it off Netflix. It was truly interesting, especially about the hover-craft technologies. It seemed like a legitimate film. In the film, those who were disclosing said that these aliens don't like our wars.. Dont like our nuclear activity. To me this sets up that theory they appear to come in Peace, but really are deceptive forces. So totally could explain away the rapture...

Please consider this possibility:
The explanation for the rapture might be ..... God. It would be the easiest way to explain it. Remember Satan misleads with a partial truth.
Since many organized religious leaders will still be around - likely including the Pope, they will say that this is the fulfillment of the Tares being taken out and thrown into the fire. They will be the goods ones left. They will say, "The bad ones will have been removed. Those fundamentalists that condemn others and think they are holier than thou have been removed by God so that we can begin a new life in God here on earth. The 1000 year reign on earth has started and by the way - God is now among us...."
It's an idea anyway...

I tend to agree with you Barbio on the alien theory. Clearly those entities are evil and are tools of Satan to deceive and confuse.
A massive dillusion blamed on aliens seems likely in my mind. Satan is working overtime and has been trying to get the world decesntized to the alien concept by using films, music, tv, pop culture, XMen, Comics, etc.

You can also add these two:
1. They will be glad we are gone, and will not care. 2. They will be too wrapped up in their lives/sinning that they won't care

And of course, insurance companies will claim 'Act of God' and will refuse to pay any claims related to the incident.
