I just found out that one of my Sunday School teachers from when I was little passed away a couple weeks ago. Weldon Humphrey was one of the most godly, humble men I've ever known, and he put up with a BUNCH of baloney from young watchboyJimmy who was often not very polite or cooperative in the Sunday School class in the early to mid 80's. Weldon was a rare man for his humility among a proud and arrogant people in central Maine--a quiet but glowing witness for the character of our Lord in a dark and needy land. Like me, one of his pleasures in life was working with old John Deere tractors. Here he is in a parade with one of his projects.

I am so sorry for your loss, watchmanjim! He sounds like he was such a godly, good witness to you.
Thank you for bearing testament to his contribution to your world and ultimately your walk. Surely, you'll meet him again AND he'll probably get an extra crown for 'putting up with' you.
Be comforted, sir. He ran his race well!

The Great Reunion is going to be so very good, watchmanjim! So many dear ones to embrace! We miss them in this moment, but there is comfort in looking forward to that beautiful day...

Thanks, y'all. One of the biggest reasons I went ahead and posted this here is to give honor where honor is due. And this man never was the type to seek his own honor, glory, or recognition, so I especially wanted to give it to him in remembrance.
He also saved my life one time when I was about 10 or 11 years old. He pulled me out of a whirlpool in the river with a small tree. There were others nearby including my dad who were about to get me out, but he got to me first. Little known fact.
