Lol MissusMack08 sounds like you're trying to squeeze the "eclipse" into the 23rd now. For this eclipse to happen the earth would have to slow down it's rotation, right? We have zero evidence this will happen. This is just the hunch from the video. I digress... I finally watched the video (can't remember his name but I keep thinking it's Don Cornelius, lol lol lol) and he sounds definitive about the darkness being an eclipse but the Bible doesn't say that. The other thing is the darkness happened at his death, not birth. The star of Bethlehem was for his birth. Therefore wouldn't the pattern be more likely another stellar alignment? Perhaps when the "Day of Atonement" is fulfilled there could be a planetary eclipse. Possibly in 3.5 yrs from now. So could the earth slow down, possible. We can't even speculate as to how slow as we don't know how.large the object causing the eclipse is or how fast it's moving or what angle it has between earth and the sun. Sorry I'm not on board with this one

mike , I personally don't think an eclipse or darkness is going to occur. There's nothing about it in scripture and no reason to believe the Sign needs to be visible during the day in Israel when it completes. I just like to think about all the angles and possibilities. Something did just occur to me though... The Sign DOES complete during the day over Israel, correct? So they will be "blind" to it. The nations in the east (like China) will be able to see half of the Sign at their sunset and nations in the west (like US) will see the other half of the Sign at their dawn, when it completes. Matt 8:11-12 “And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. “But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Interesting edit: I don't think darkness/eclipse will occur on the 23rd, but I do think a rogue planet coming in SOME DAY could do that and could possibly slow down or stop earth's rotation temporarily.

Israel will be able to see half at sunrise and half at sunset as well.

That's a very interesting thought. The question is, is there a point of time, when the sign completes? Maybe the alignment of the 3 planets Venus, Mars and Mercury compared with the 3 pyramids of Gizeh? Lu Vega pointed out, that the alignment of the planets mirrors the pyramids alignment during the sign..... I love the never ending details and precision of God's plans.

I was looking at an online planetarium yesterday, trying to pinpoint the exact moment the moon would be "under" the woman's feet, which I decided was when the moon appeared to become lower than the lowest (to the horizon) star of the two "feet" of Virgo. This looked like it occurs just as the feet of Virgo is rising in Israel, around 9:20 am or so, maybe a little earlier. Literally, just about as the moon comes up over the horizon from Jerusalem's perspective, but I wonder what the easternmost area of Israel's true borders would see? If it would make any difference.

MissusMack08 did you the article Gary wrote about the 24th? I think its called "do we have the wrong day"? As I "think" more (very dangerous ) about all the discussion we all are having I keep thinking the sign itself is for Israel...if the rapture happens around this time I'm thinking it will be the day before or so, like 21st, 22nd...Israel will then see the sign after the departure.

My mind is still set on 1 Cor. 15:52 "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." Blowing the trumpet on that final day is when they confirm that they see the crescent moon correct? They've been blowing a trumpet every day for a month, if I'm not mistaken, so when they see the crescent moon it would be the last trumpet and if we can take what Paul says to be true, and I think we can, when that trumpet is blown, is when the dead in Christ will be raised and we shall be changed. If this takes place at sundown (the twinkling of an eye) on Friday the 22nd at 6:36(?) Jerusalem time, I know that I will be in a safety meeting at work at 9:36 a.m. Friday morning. I still can't imagine what scenario might take place from 9:37 on...

Yes I did. It's possible that's what the sign means. Maybe "under her feet" means the moon is in Libra. It's also possible the sign begins at a moment and ends at a moment, like in a 24 hour period or so. I find it very interesting that the 23rd falls on a sabbath—the seventh day— and the Sabbath of Return, but possibly also the true Feast of Trumpets. Either way, it doesn't really matter because the sign is in the sky. We know that THAT is fulfilling prophetic scripture. This day discussion stuff only matters if we think something is going to happen at the moment the sign completes. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. I just think it's interesting that the sign itself is not visible from earth. We had to find it on a software program (and lots of people have a problem with this for some reason, as if our development of technology is somehow "beyond" how God works, when He's the one who gave us the brains with the capability to develop the technology we have...) But perhaps it being invisible means something too.

Ok, the way the moon currently makes solar eclipses is by whizzing by in the opposite direction. This means it is only very temporarily in the way of the sun. If the moon, or any other object, went the opposite direction around the earth, then it could easily make a much longer duration eclipse. This is the difference between two cars travelling on a highway. If two cars are travelling at 50 mph in the opposite direction, then when they meet, they are only "beside each other" for a very split second. But if two cars are travelling the same direction, the first one at 50 mph, and the second at 51 mph, and the second car passes the first car, then the two cars are "beside each other" for a much longer period of time. No, Jim, the moon orbits earth in the same direction as earth rotates. It only appears to go opposite because the earth spins in a circle faster than the moon orbits in its circle (angular velocity not actual velocity). If the moon were going in the opposite direction, the eclipse would only last, I don't know, maybe a few seconds? For an eclipse to last longer, the angular velocity of the earth and moon would have to be more similar than they are now. The moon would either need to speed up how fast it orbits around the earth or the earth would need to decrease how fast it rotates on its axis.

But this just means that I need to adjust my thoughts to match the facts. So. Adjust, adjust. There. Done. Now, having adjusted, I'm ready to give you my modified idea..... In this case, what I'm trying to get at is this: Part of the formula of how long any eclipse lasts is the relative velocity of the outer object (earth) and the middle object (moon or other interfering object). So the size of the interfering object is ONE factor. Its velocity, or differential velocity, is a SECOND factor. So you have size, velocity, oh yes, and vector or arc directions of the moving parts.

watchmanjim, yep now we're square... or round... or spherical...? I think getting back to the point of this thread... is that it IS possible that some unknown object could "sneak" up on us (especially if it's a dusty dark planet or something that doesn't reflect light) and block the sun for 3 hours, whichever direction it's coming from, and cause the earth to wobble and cause other catastrophic events. But, that we don't know IF/WHEN that will happen, and we certainly don't have any way of knowing apart from guessing that it will happen when the Rev 12 sign occurs. And there is really no reason to expect it to other than that it happened at Christ's crucifixion (but not the other 3 fulfilled feasts). It goes back to the idea that the Sign needs to be visible in the sky. Does it?

Not really. My God is big enough to work through the knowledge and ingenuity of mankind, as I think we've seen in many other incidences. The deeper we look into space with our high-powered telescopes, the more signs we see pointing to our Creator. The more we use microscopes and other scientific instruments to study the small things like cells and molecules, the more we see the fingerprint of our Creator. Why is it a stretch to say that He made a sign that is difficult to see and impossible to see all at once, without simulating the truth of it by computer?
Having said that, even if we didn't have computers, scientists could actually track this alignment by calculus and on paper. It would just be harder to do. So I really don't think we have a problem.
