With all the earthquakes in Soda Springs, Idaho...I was looking for any significance. I searched for the hebrew meanings of soda and springs, in which, i took to mean lye fountains. but this entry popped up, google page 5 entry 4. www.deseretnews.com/article/705377449/The-Jeremiah-code.html It talked about Jeremiah using a code to hide words in his writings. It intrigued me and seemed very relevant to hidden meanings or signs. It mentioned some verses in Jeremiah that I took to mean maybe this code had been used there. I know nothing about hebrew, so I'm posting here for someone more knowledgeable than I. It made mention of Babylon and God's anger.

Further, I found this In the Book of Jeremiah the code is seen used in 25:26, 51:1, and 51:41. Jeremiah 25:26 and 51:41 includes the place name, “Sheshach”. This place was unknown to scholars at first, but, after applying the Atbash cipher, they realized it was the coded name for Babylon (Babel). Why Babylon was encoded in this way is not entirely certain. Suggestions have been made the code was to conceal Jeremiah’s prediction of the nation’s destruction. Others say Jeremiah may have used the coded name for Babylon because it was a known and commonly used name for it at the time. No one is for sure. mysteriouswritings.com/the-atbash-cipher-and-jeremiah-511/

Deseret News is a Mormon publication - that in of itself makes this suspect. Notice how they're trying to use this concept of the Atbash code to support the authenticity of the Book of Mormon, which is a serious problem for the LDS since the beginning, and more recently research has shown it was written by plagiarizing the KJB (to include italicized clarification words and translation errors), along with several books contemporary to Joseph Smith's location and time. Also notice they never get into specifics on how this actually can be proven. This is a better source: www.gotquestions.org/Atbash-code.html

Just keep in mind that the Bible won't make clear, coherent, and consistent sense to someone that does not believe the Gospel. They'll misinterpret context and content and come up with a muddy, confusing theology that contains inconsistencies and confusion. And Mormons do not believe the Gospel.

I have come across the Atbash code before, and the instance regarding Babel (Babylon) is interesting to say the least, but I have never been able to get very far with determining if there is other significant uses for the code. It could be a one-off, or there could be something more to it--I really don't know.
