Maybe I am just stating the obvious that someone else has long ago already written about. However, a light just went on for me regarding one aspect of this eclipse as I put 1 + 1 together to equal 2. Totality begins at 9:16AM PDT in Oregon on the morning of Monday August 21st. At that precise same minute, at least according to Internet sources, the sun sets in Jerusalem, 7:16PM Israel time. When America goes dark, Israel goes dark. America represents the gentile nations of the world, while Israel represents God's descendants of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob. The very first major town that the center line of the band of totality covers is Salem, Oregon, with Salem being what many scholars believe is a shortened version of Jerusalem. Then, someone discovered that there are actually seven Salems in the path of totality (one of the seven is debated as being like in the 99% band).
So when America goes dark, Israel goes dark. And Salem is the first town on the map to go dark as Jerusalem goes dark. And there are seven, helloooo, seven Salems in the path of totality. Seems to me the Lord is inextricably linking America and Israel as judgment approaches. Seems like He may be warning that He is bringing judgment on America and the gentile nations even as darkness spiritually will fall upon Israel. What might satisfy that description? Daniel's 70th week! The judgments of the Book of Revelation on the nations of the world, perhaps most notably America, and the remnant-producing refining fire upon Israel that claims two-thirds of her people before Yeshua returns for the remnant that will look upon Him whom they have pierced and mourn for Him as one mourns for an only begotten Son.
Of course, if Daniel's 70th week is coming, the harpazo is coming even sooner. The whole Christmas-Thanksgiving analogy. What do you all think??

Great thoughts, watchman35! When I saw you post about the 7 Salems, with 1 that is debated, one of the Proverbs mentioning 6 and 7 together came to mind:
Proverbs 6:16-19 says, "There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community."
That verse sounds very much like what our nation has become.

It sounds exactly like it our nation.
And I am beginning to run out of words to use when I think of all the little pieces that make up the things going on lately. Surely we are in the very last of the last days. Everything is rushing to its appointed finish.

I'd be curious to know which Salem is debated. I lived for 7 years in Salem, MO. I believe this is listed as one of the Salems, but when I initially checked the path a few months ago, it looked to me like Salem, MO was south of the line of totality.

Here's a picture of it, silentknight! Looks like there are two that are on the edge: Salem, MO, and Salem, WY.

I amazes me that the other 5 are right on that center line of the totality!

I am now questioning Salem, Wyoming. The only one I could find was renamed Lindberg when the railroad went through. It is in the same county as Cheyenne and not in the path of totality. wyomingplaces.pbworks.com/w/page/12716272/SalemMaybe someone knows if there is a different Salem, WY.

I was also unable to find any other reference to Salem, Wyoming, but for one that confirmed it was an old community in Laramie County but provided no details. I do find it interesting, though, that the name was changed to Lindbergh. Watchmanjim did a great post regarding Charles Lindberg. It's in the thread "On the 7's," at the following link:

Yeah. I checked again and Salem, MO is definitely south of the line of totality. By about 40 miles. I suppose one could make the argument that it is still very close, but I'm not putting much stock in the 7 Salem discovery. The picture provided with this thread is actually not what the line looks like.
I agree it is intriguing and that perhaps one should compare the 7 salems to the 7 churches in Rev. 2-3. Maybe there is a reason some are closer and some farther from totality.

I remember the Lindberg post. Interesting.
I was going to do some more looking this morning. I woke up last night with a really bad tummy ache (it's better now) and was trying to distract myself by finding Salem. I did find that there is a Salem Cemetery (aka Lindberg Cemetery) located south of the small town of Albin. (I found it on google earth using Lindberg Cemetery, WY) But looking around on Google earth, I didn't find any town.

Interesting thoughts Watchman35.
What stands out to me is the meaning of Salem. It means "Peace". Whether it be 5 or 7 Salems, I think the message is clear as the eclipse will darken and "blot out" these Salems: God is taking peace from the earth.

It definitely went over the South Carolina Salem, which is not too far from my house.
