I know that the book of Revelation is not completely consecutive but rather layered, like John recounting the scenes of a movie. However there are some things that we can read consecutively.
I've been studying the "Woe woe woe's" first announced after the 4th trumpet in Rev. 8:13:
And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”
The first woe happens in the 5th trumpet. Rev. 9:12 "One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things."
Second woe happens after the 6th trumpet and after the 2 witnesses are raptured, followed by the earthquake:
Rev. 11:11 Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. 12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them. 13 In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven. 14 The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
The third woe, the only other woe proclaimed in the text, is after the seventh trumpet and the Rev. 12 sign, after Michael & his angels fight with the devil and kick him and his angels out of heaven. Rev. 12:12..."Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
These 3 Woes read very consecutively. However, the events don't seem to match up consecutively. As far as we know, the 2 witnesses aren't here yet. The Rev. 12 constellation is just around the corner from us, but none of these other events have happened. Yet this autumn is ripe for prophecy unfolding.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions about these very-clearly consecutive woes and their timing with everything else?
