There has been a lot of technical discussion around the great sign and September 23, 2017. There is a practical side of the great sign that not many people have talked about. Gary you touched on it when you mentioned the constellation Libra will not be visible when the Sun is in the sky. The very words clothed in the Sun says that the sign will not be visible to the naked eye. Why is it called a great sign, if it can't be seen. This sounds a little like the description of faith, things hoped for but not seen. Does the sign indicate a change in that dynamic. Will things not hoped for start to be seen. Is the Age of Grace gone now and will God manifest Himself to everyone on earth. Will men's hearts fail because of things they start to see? What are your thoughts about this?

Good morning, rickjones427! Another thought to go along with that is: Because the sign does occur during daylight hours (the woman is clothed with the sun), would the general public have even known it was to occur if it had actually happened in days of the past when computer programs didn't exist to show us? Astronomers themselves would have charted paths of the stars and so on, but it is only today with our modern-day computers and communication technology that the whole world of believers is made aware of something that could not be seen with the eyes. I find that amazing!

The elcipse on August 21 will let people see it just before it happens--the sun and moon will converge right by Regulus the king star and it will be visible by huge crowds of people in the US. 4 planets will be visible. It will be a wake-up call for the world, I do believe.

Watchmanjim, I hadn't even considered that we would get to observe it--what a discovery! I just checked Stellarium to see what it would look like from my neck of the woods, and you are absolutely correct that the sun and moon will be in action right near Regulus. I am so excited to see it--Lord willing, of course!

Awesome! I'm in a prime viewing spot, too, and I'm hoping to have family come to visit for watching it.

Wow, those are really insightful thoughts. I think you hit the mark. The Revelation 12 Sign: an invisible sign that is definitely there, but you have to be aware and watching to see it. Perhaps on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, or 24th our faith will become sight.

Well I saw Jupiter last night high up in the sky. I was surprised how bright it was.

Being such a newcomer to this site, forgive me if this is a duplicate post. Has anyone considered whether the sign we are looking at is what Jesus was referring to when he said "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Is this why we should look up?

I believe that this is definitely part of what He meant! And also, as the time approaches, we should be watching for Him too. But there are many signs in the heavens to see as well.

Here is an interesting coincidence, from June 7, 2011 to September 23, 2017 is 2300 days. What happened on June 7th 2011? There was a huge solar flare. Flares are used for getting people's attention. Seems around that time the posts for the September sign started appearing. But again, just a coincidence.

Actually the sign will be visible with the naked eye, but you will only be able to see one half at a time. The Regulus crown will be visible for a few minutes before sunrise on 9/23, while most of Virgo, Jupiter, and the moon will be visible for a few minutes after sunset on 9/23. You can simulate this in Stellarium, the moon appears in the correct position if you set the location to Jerusalem.
