Deuteronomy 28:22-24
"The LORD will smite you with consumption and with fever and with inflammation and with fiery heat and with the sword and with blight and with mildew, and they will pursue you until you perish. "The heaven which is over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you, iron. "The LORD will make the rain of your land powder and dust; from heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed."
A contentious verse on droughts to start off with, and we know that droughts are not always a declaration of judgement from God.
However - with the recent increases in the severity of droughts in the world, I thought it would be useful for those looking into the events of Revelation 6, to discuss some of the significant droughts currently taking place in the world.
A thread has already been started on the Ethiopian drought, however it is important to note again the severity of the drought, it being the worst in many decades.
Other droughts of significance - the vietnam drought of 2016 - considered the worst in over 100 years; the Mediterranean drought of 2016 - considered to be the worst in over 900 years; and we can all remember the Californian drought that was considered the worst in decades - where the outbreak of fires were considered the norm for a long period of time.
However its the most recent drought taking place in Rome that (aside from Ethiopia) has prophetic undertones. www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jul/24/rome-water-rationing-italy-heatwave provides some insight into the severity of the droughts. Considering Italy houses Rome, which houses the Vatican, I cannot help (and I am sure many feel the same way) but feel that this is possibly a warning to the Roman Catholic 'church' as to its possible position with regards to end times events.
Amos 8:1 states 11“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, when I will send a famine through the land—not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. 12People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it." The rest of Amos 8 is interesting as you will be aware, with significant end-times expectations.
The RCC, the one religion whose sole purpose in the dark ages were to restrict reading of the word of God from the common folk. I find it ironic that in these last days, God may well be using this drought to bring on the church, the very thing they imposed on their people. Now I apologise if I sound like I am 'catholic' bashing, however the sins of the leaders tend to be poured out on the people.
Some possible prophetic clarity on the drought that is taking place in Italy, Spain and Greece at the moment. Revelation 6:6 - And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine."
...and do not damage the oil and the wine. An interesting part of the scripture, considering the area where there is significant drought is where 90% of the worlds olive oil production is currently taking place - that being Italy, Greece and Spain. See www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jul/08/spain-drought-farmers-climate-change-extremadura
However - with Gods declaration not to 'touch the oil and the wine', will we see the olive trees survive, while the barley and wheat crops fail?
Anyway - it would be good to know from others the significance they see in the current global droughts. Are they worse than what we have seen in recent years, or are they simply taking place in areas we would consider being of 'biblical significance'?
