Hello all, I know for some parts of North America tornados are regular occurrences. In Alberta/Saskatchewan we do get them but they are rare enough to have a lot buzz about them. Yesterday a storm passed over the area where I live and nearly created a touchdown near my sisters home. It appears the same storm may have moved eastward and created 6 tornados in Saskatchewan that made the news. www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/canada/six-tornadoes-touch-down-in-saskatchewan-1.3514826

Tornadoes are called whirlwinds in Scripture, and there are a lot of verses about them. They are highly prophetic in nature in the Scripture.

Now were are experiencing heavy rainfall today.
My dry basement is not dry any longer. Although I live on fairly sandy soil at a higher spot, the subsoil moisture has hit its maximum as today was the first time we have ever had need of a sump pump. (We were living on the edge I guess as we have the hole for one but never got around to buying one. We have lived here for 12 years and my husband has lived in the area for over 35). Today will be spent pumping out and mopping up the inch of water on the floor and trying to dry out underneath the subfloor by using fans and dehumidifiers. I also have about 18 loads of laundry to do as all the laundry that was clean/not clean in piles on the floor of my laundry room is sopping wet.
I checked the weather last night and there was no weather warning. Looked at it after sleeping in this morning (I love sleeping in on a rainy day) and it says a warning of 50-70mm. (2+") My mother in law checked her rain gauge and she is at 2 1/4" 10 miles from where I live.
There seems to be lots of flooding this year; I see it in the news but never thought it would effect my house. God has a way of getting people's attention.

I should also add, I don't live on low land, so the potential for flooding is very minimal.

Sawdy, I'll be praying for your situation! My husband and I faced the cleanup and fans and so on when our apartment was flooded during a powerful rainstorm a few years ago, so I know what a mess that can be! I woke up one night hearing our neighbors shouting something to someone in the parking lot, and I thought I heard them say something about water coming in. So I got up out of bed to go see if they were all right, and sure enough, water was making its way in under the front door. It was amazing how quickly it made its way through the apartment! We only had at the most a quarter-inch of water, but it was certainly destructive. And just after the apartment managers had clean-up crews come in and suck up the water from the carpets and set up their fans and other equipment, in the next night or two the same thing happened, so they had to come in and do the work all over again. That was quite the mess!

Fortunately, we have no damage. Just an inch of water to clean up in my laundry room. It seemed under the subfloor, so I will be running fans and dehumidifiers for a couple of weeks to dry it out. The rain will be steady into tomorrow morning now. Over 5" nearby and more to come all afternoon and night long.
I had a giant pile of laundry I was procrastinating on cleaning and am actually going to get it done now. 😀 God is helping me to tackle my "To Do" list.
