fitz, live 25 miles north of Yellowstone and did not feel this one as relatives are asking me... Central Idaho far enough away? That would typically be slightly too far, however, someone in Minnesota said they felt it! But see the shakemap here: earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us70008jr5/map The outer bands do not quite reach to Yellowstone. However, Dutchsinse said that the earthquake was roughly centered over the magma chamber for Yellowstone.

I had to look that one up. Are there frequent earthquakes there? It looks like a plate boundary and the map showed fracture zones, so I am assuming it is.

Yep, It is on a major fault line in the Indian Ocean, and yep, big EQ's happen here a lot. No one reports them as they are in the middle of nowhere, however, you can bet they contribute to the overall picture of EQ/volcano activity we see. Right now there are a very high number of 2.5+ (102 right now) due to the swarms in PR, Idaho and California...big 5's on the Asia side of the Pacific. Amazing me how many 2.5+ quakes we are seeing daily now compared to back in 2017. 25 - 30 a day has become 50 - 100. Krakatoa 47.000 foot blast yesterday? The earth continues to groan...

These 4's & 5's we've been seeing in the western US are not insignificant. 8000 reports on this one...seems to be building to something big. "Everything was shaking. The weights on my grandfather clock were swaying back and forth."
