Praying for friends and family

Praying for all watchmen, that we keep our faith and not grow discouraged in the event all doesn't fall into place as we are hoping.

I am struggling about my elderly father right now. I am scared that he might not really be saved even though he believes he is. When I first got interested in the Rev 12 sign, I showed him a video on it. He got angry with me and said it was astrology. He lectured me about staying off the internet. He said Jesus can't come back yet because the Jews have to turn back to the Lord first. He does not believe that God speaks through normal events like eclipses. He believes God would only use supernatural signs. He said that there will be no way to know beforehand the rapture is coming. He also recently said that we were actually demons sent to earth. Huh??? He has treated me like a 10 year old, and said that God only speaks through his word, and that I should spend more time studying the word, because that is the only way God speaks. I am very discouraged and don't know what to do. I am widowed with a young child, and very hopeful for the Lord's soon return.

Some people are very set in their interpretations of Scripture to the degree that should anyone point out a different view--even though both are believers in the Lord--they can become upset. I don't know how old your father is, but you mentioned he is elderly. Sometimes--not always, but sometimes--the elderly are prone to this, and sometimes elderly minds take on some odd thoughts as well. I encourage you to pray for your father and to rest in the Lord's goodness. The Lord knows your father's heart, and even as age takes its toll on us all, I know He will be merciful.
