Not convinced....Context is king. "The adversary" is the principal of 1 Peter 5:8....in context, devil refers back to "The adversary".....your hill is a steep hill to climb. Please provide a scholarly reference to support your view...I disagree with your interpretation......
I believe in context, "the adversary" is definitely Satan.

But you said we are in the 1k earthly reign. How is He reigning on earth if He has yet to return?
Scripture declares that we are reigning with Christ, not me.
Can I have the reference you are thinking of so that I can read it in context? Because I really don't see an earthly evidence that we are in Christ's earthly kingdom. Spiritual one, yes.

Sure thing...
And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy are You to receive the scroll, and to open its seals, because You were slain, and by Your blood purchased us to God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and made us to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and we shall reign over the earth. (Rev 5.9 – 10)

Ahh... I do not consider Rev 5 to have taken place yet. So when I read "we shall reign" to me that's future. It will happen when Jesus physically returns.

The Greek inflection is future indicative active, which means that it is already occurring now, and in the future.

"You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world."
The second clause has nothing to do with "them", bowman
Who do you think the "he" that is in the world is?

There is NO 'he' in the Greek.
'Them' is used before this passage...and 'they' are used after this passage.
Always remember to use context when quoting, sam.
To whom is the plural directed?

bowman, you know who the plural is directed to by reading the 1st 3 verses... It is any spirit who is antichrist...that is the context! We have overcome them because greater is "He" (3588 "ho" corresponds to our definite article the (German der, die, das), which is properly a demonstrative pronoun) in us than "he" (3588 "ho" corresponds to our definite article the (German der, die, das), which is properly a demonstrative pronoun) that is in the world.
"ho" in us, greater than "ho" in the world....which is why we overcome the spirits of antichrist, "them", as described in the first 3 verses...context dear bowman, context

Your reply plagiarizes Thayer's Greek Lexicon, which you googled from the web, without providing proper credit.
Further, you even went so far as to splice two completely different Thayer lexical quotes together, which were never even intended to be a continuous sentence in the first place!
Why do you feel the need to deceitfully plagiarize, and then tamper with that same plaigarization in order to somehow 'prove' a point?
Sad...

That’s not correct bowman, I took it from bible hub online: biblehub.com/interlinear/1_john/4-4.htmIf it violates any copyright, it was unintentional on my part. I did not “deceitfully” splice two different quotes together as you charge, the are exactly the same word as anyone can see at the link Have fun, I’m done

Thanks for admitting that you plagiarized from BibleHub.com.
Then, you further applied deceit by providing an improper link.
Here is the link showing what you stole from...and how everything that you plagiarized to be out of original order...
