Hi all,
This past year my life has had many changes. (One great praise was that I read through the entire Bible last year and finished it by reading the entire New Testament with my kids.)
My request for prayer stems from another change this past year. My husband got a new job that required us to relocate to a community about 60km from where we used to live. We sold our home, and I left my job as secretary at my church. I left behind a relativity new pastor (first pastoral job, early-40s, a year into the job when I left). I had hoped that they would have hired a replacement for me to assist our pastor but somehow the church decided not to.
Today I heard the news from my Mother-in-law that attends there that our pastor has handed in his notice and is leaving ministry due to stress.
I am grieving this because although I am no longer attending that church, they are still my family. I was there when we had a year of no minister and that was challenging. I don't know how they will handle having no minister and no secretary. I ask for prayer for God's guidance and strength for the congregation as they navigate this period with lack of leadership and support. I also ask for prayer for revitalization, comfort and rest for our pastor as he figures out where God leads him as he leaves the ministry field that he just entered 2 years ago.
(My family is now attending a little church in our new home community. I have been blessed to be able to take a break from being involved in the day-to-day operations of a church as I settle into this new community. My kids are enjoying our new church as they have a Friday night youth group to attend and have made friends in our new town. This Sunday service, my son was able to help with running the sound board as his friend who runs it was ill. He was happy to be helping out and using the talents that he learned about sound operations in our previous church.)
I am thankful the God is with us in our new journey but I am lamenting the challenges that my "old" church is facing. This message board is like my extended family that I don't get to see but enjoying the company of. I appreciate all of you and enjoy your posts and keep you also in my prayers.
