Gary, you've just posted what has been on my mind for so very long now! I've been wondering about the Revelation 9:21 and 18:23 passages related to "pharmakon" and how Mystery Babylon deceived the world through this.

I also found something fascinating from Job 3:8, where Job is lamenting the day of his birth. "Tell the sorcerers to curse that day, those who know how to control Leviathan." This is from the Good News Translation. In Strong's Hebrew, the part that says "sorcerers" describes it as:

"Strong's Hebrew 5344: 1) to pierce, perforate, bore, appoint 1a) (Qal) 1a1) to pierce, bore 1a2) to prick off, designate 1b) (Niphal) to be pricked off, be designated, be specified 2) (Qal) to curse, blaspheme." (Source: BibleHub, biblehub.com/strongs/job/3-8.htm)

I thought it was interesting the Strong's definition sounds much like a needle piercing skin. Also, I found it fascinating that Job suggests these people can "control" Leviathan, which is the image of the Beast from the Sea from the Book of Revelation. Strong's suggestion for the word "control" is:

"Strong's Hebrew 5782: 1) to rouse oneself, awake, awaken, incite 1a) (Qal) to rouse oneself, awake 1b) (Niphal) to be roused 1c) (Polel) to stir up, rouse, incite 1d) (Hithpolel) to be excited, be triumphant 1e) (Hiphil) 1e1) to rouse, stir up 1e2) to act in an aroused manner, awake." (Same source).

Is there a connection, then, between the pharmakon and the rise of the Beast from the Sea? My suspicion is yes.
