The man who wrote this paper makes a very interesting case. I've always been taught that the fourth kingdom was the Roman Empire, but I can see how perhaps that might not work and how the fourth kingdom and the ten nations might be the Muslim Empire. The reason why is because a majority of Muslims (not all of them) have been taught to conquer the world and spread Islam into conquered territories. They are also taught, according to Muhammad, if there is any Christians and Jews in their territories, and they don't convert to Islam, they are killed. So, I definitely see based on the evidence and based on the ideology of a majority of Muslims that the fourth kingdom/ten nations could be the Islamic Empire.

Hey schooldad3 thsnks for sharing the info. Over the last year or two (studting Daniel and others prophets) I have become increasingly interested in the history of the empires as they affect the middle east, Israel and the church. This helps me understand the contwxt even moreso!

Thanks schooldad, I'll try to give it a read later. I read Joel Richardson's "Islamic Antichrist" years ago and found it very interesting, but still lean towards the popular, coming out of the old Roman Empire view. I have considered the idea that possibly after the Rapture, the Islamic nations could gain a larger role in the world. But I still have a hard time picturing them dominating the world. I guess if the Mahdi pulled off some spectacular false miracles, and the world started converting in large numbers to Islam, it would be possible. And then there's the fact that they may eventually through higher birth rates have more control. But I don't think we'll be here to see any of it. I guess only time will tell which view is correct.

Nebuchadnezzar saw a great statue with a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, stomach and thighs of brass, legs of iron and feet of iron and clay (Daniel 2:32-33). Most agree four empires of Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece and Rome ruled over Israel. After the first Jewish-Roman Wars in 66-73, Israel lost their homeland and ceased to exist as a nation. Jewish survivors were dispersed throughout the world. In 1948, Israel was reborn as an independent Jewish nation. What is the 5th empire that is feet of iron and clay?

Brian Maxwell: So what were these feet which were mixed with iron and clay? This is a picture of the kingdom of Rome, where the Jews had partial rule in their own land, but under the yoke of Rome. As a side note, it would be worth mentioning that the four kingdoms described in Daniel 2 never ruled over the entire globe. They ruled over the covenant people of God. Let us always remember that the bible concerns God’s covenant people, and that is its primary focus.

This article says 10 toes are 10 kings of Rome (Augustus to Titus - 27 BC to 81 AD). There are five empires that rule Israel not four. Iron is Rome and iron and clay is a fifth kingdom. It claims that Israel is the clay that partially ruled with Rome (Daniel 2:42-43). Media-Persia, Greek and Rome oppressed Judah but the Jews rebuilt the temple and worshiped without much interference except Greek King Antiochus IV Epiphanes and the Roman rebellion. There are 10 kings and kingdoms so dead kings did not give power to the Antichrist Nero or Domitian (Revelation 17:12-13). Paul says that day would not come until the man of lawlessness is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4). No one sits in the Jewish temple between 70 AD to now. There is a prophecy principle of now and not yet. During Daniel 2, there is the present rule of Babylon and four future empires. Jesus Christ finished his work of redemption at the cross and established His kingdom on earth. However, we do not see heaven on earth but are in the Church Age waiting for His reign on earth for a thousand years. We still pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” The 10 toes are 10 Roman kings describe a preterist or past view of prophecy.

A second and popular option is that Daniel 7 repeats Daniel 2. This idea existed before St. Jerome wrote his commentary in ~390. The iron and clay is a future revived Roman Empire. There are five empires in Daniel 2 but three empires merge into the fourth lion/bear/leopard in Daniel 7 (Revelation 13:1). Media-Persian is the ram and Greece is the goat (Daniel 8:20-21). Babylon is a present empire but these four kingdoms are future (Daniel 7:17). Neither Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece and Rome or Iraq, Iran, Greece and Italy merge into a revived Roman empire. However, the 5th empire is a future revived Roman empire of iron and clay nations. The Daniel 7 repeats Daniel 2 is a preterist or past view of prophecy.

A third option is that Daniel 7 lion/bear/leopard describes the iron and clay feet and toes of Daniel 2 (Daniel 7:7-8, Revelation 13:1). The lion is the United Kingdom and the mouth of the lion is English (Daniel 7:4). The eagle is the United States who was a colony of the lion but was torn in war. The bear is Russia, like the Soviet Union, has feet of a red communist dictatorship and ribs in its mouth (World Wars I, II, IV) to devour much flesh (Daniel 7:5). The leopard is Germany with four heads (Holy Roman, German, Nazi and European Union) (Daniel 7:6). The empire started in 800 AD. It has two sets of wings (east and west). Germany had a deadly wound but the deadly wound was healed (Revelation 13:3). The fourth beast is when the lion/bear/leopard merges into the Beast (Daniel 7:7) . It is a political, religious and economic system pictured as a woman riding a red Beast (Revelation 17:3). The name of the woman is Europa, the mother of all harlots (Revelation 17:5). The Antichrist is the 11th horn that rules the Beast (world government) and False Prophet rules the 2nd beast (world religion) (Revelation 13:1, 11). The Daniel 2 stone hits the feet of the statues and it crumbles to pieces (Daniel 2:34). This happens right after the Second Coming on Atonement (Leviticus 23:27) as Jesus Christ begins His eternal reign on Tabernacles, God with us (Leviticus 23:34). Daniel 7 describes the feet of Daniel 2 is a present view of prophecy.

Are the feet and toes of iron and clay already in place? No. They merge during the first half of the seven year Tribulation. The United States is not a part of the 4th beast. Because of World War III, the United States falls and the United Kingdom, German and Russia merge the European Union and United Nations into a 10 king superpower that gives power to the 11th king - Antichrist. (Daniel 7:8, Revelation 17:12-13). Since 1995, the nation of Israel has been an associate member of the EU.

The Beast come from Europe but false prophet merges all false religions together to worship the Antichrist. 666 is a number to be calculated but Chi Xi Stigma is translated Bismillah in Arabic “In the name of Allah two crossed swords”. Muslims are deceived and see the Antichrist as their twelfth Imam.

schooldad3, does the text say that included with the toes of clay is the iron, the brass, the silver, and the gold (Dan. 2:35). If that is the case then included with the toes are Iraq, Iran, Rome, and Greece for a total of 14 (?).

Tribulation Wars

Some prophetic events in Revelation that the future view puts into the Tribulation occur during our time. After moving four seals and five trumpet wars earlier, there are three major wars during the Tribulation. Russia participates in World War I and II before the Tribulation and World War IV (4) during the Tribulation (Russia-Islamic War).

1) World War III – 6th Trumpet

The 6th trumpet is a war that has a 200 million man army that destroys a third of humanity (~2.5 billion). (Revelation 9:14-15, 16). The US is superpower but falls. Who knocks us down and who takes our place? These 10 kings give power to the 11th king, Antichrist (Daniel 7:8, Revelation 17:12-13). The war ends after 3½ years (Revelation 11:14).

2) World War IV – Gog and Magog

After Antichrist coronation, those in Judea must flee (Matthew 24:15-16). Russian and radical Islam (Iran, Libya, Turkey) usurp Antichrist’s authority and attacks Israel from the north and south (Ezekiel 38:2-3, 5-6, 8). God protects His people and wipe out the invaders.

3) World War V – Armageddon

Finally, all nations gather at the valley of Megiddo and begin the final battle (Joel 3:2). Jerusalem is taken (Zechariah 14:2). On the Day of Atonement, Jesus Christ returns at the Second Coming (Leviticus 23:27). At the last moment, Israel repents as a nation and accepts their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10). Others still refuse to accept the King of Kings.

The discussion 21st Century View of Revelation describes Daniel’s Dream and future articles Horses on the Run and Seven Wars of the Seven Trumpets. Revelation not so much sequential but a spiral of events (seals, 144,000, trumpets, Antichrist and false prophet, bowls, woman and Armageddon) that all end at the Second Coming.

So the eagle is not necessarily the United States but a nation that travels long distances (IMO) as Great Britain did during Pax Britannica. Please notice in the verse (Dan. 7:4) that the eagle's wings were plucked and it was made to stand like a man and a man's heart was given unto it. How does this describe the United States? It does however describe Great Britain during the early 1900's IMO.

Another problem with the eagle metaphor representing the United States is that Matt. 24:28 states that the eagles gather to the carcase and Rev. 12:14 references two wings of a Great Eagle. Again, eagles fly long distances and the gathering to the carcase as well as upon the wings of the Great Eagle does not imply a reference to the United States but to traveling long distances. The short of it seems to be that the eagle references pertain to Christ's people in long distance travel. I say this because we also see the Savior's people called "foul" in Rev. 19:17 indicating that they are traveling a shorter distance and fighting a regional war. IMO

Nevertheless, you do have a lot of thought provoking and interesting stuff. Thank you.

You ask a lot of questions which is good but usually can’t be explained in a short answer. Since there are multiple threads involved, I will also post the question and answer in the specific thread so others can follow the posts on various discussions.

Birth of Jesus Christ

Bible chronology and history can only go so far but I need more evidence. Our primary source is Scripture (2 Peter 1:20-21). There are other ways to verify prophecy time and events through secondary sources (astronomy, Jewish holy days) (Genesis 1:14) and lesser sources (history, commentaries). With the birth of Jesus Christ, Astronomy and Jewish holy days are God’s timing to verify dates.

Scripture says Jesus Christ was born between the census of Augustus and the death of Herod (Luke 2:1-2, Matthew 2:1). John started his ministry on the 15th year of Tiberius (Luke 3:1-2) and Jesus started his ministry about 6 months later at thirty (Luke 3:23) that lasts 2½-3½ years counting Passovers in John.

I studied Bible chronology for months and there are still questions in the timeline. I am aware of some issues but I’m not a prophet to set dates for the Rapture and Tribulation. There is a whole chapter devoted to calendar errors pushing the year earlier or later. The 7000 Millennium and the cross at 4001 AM Jewish years are reasonable. Since Jesus died in ~27-33 AD and Second Coming is ~2027-2033 then we are in the Tribulation window of ~2020-2026.

Jesus tells us to see the signs of the time (Matthew 16:2-3). Astronomy of the birth of Jesus Christ is one way through Stellarium. In 532, Dionysius Exiguus calculated Easter dates which set the birth to ~1 BC. The October 7 BC and September 3 BC have Jupiter conjunctions in the sky. The year 14 BC is out of range but it is possible to get to 7 BC by adding three years to the rule of Augustus and three year coregency for Tiberius. The 3 BC date requires a better explanation to move Herod’s death from 4 BC to 1 BC.

Add another line of study with Jewish holy days. The Jupiter and Saturn conjunction occurs on the October 7 BC birth on Tabernacles. While the Jupiter and Regulus conjunction occurs on the September 3 BC birth on Trumpets. Teddy Roosevelt’s inauguration (120 years), 9/11 attack (20 years) and Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death (1 year) point to Trumpets 2021 but not yet. When there is a possible confirmation of the covenant (Daniel 9:27) and China’s march to the Euphrates, (Revelation 9:15-16) we will be homeward bound.

Three World Wars in the Tribulation

There are three wars in the Tribulation but that is parts 7-9. The premise is that God shows us His plan for our time before the Tribulation. The seals and trumpet are parts 4-6 in the discussion 21st Century View of Revelation. Four seals and five trumpets occur before the Tribulation. The 7th seal, 7th trumpet and 7th bowl occur at the Second Coming. Revelation is written to encourage all Christians to see God’s plan for His people.

Daniel 2:32-33 describes a five part stature and Daniel 7:3 describes three beasts or empire nations that merge together into the fourth beast with 10 horns/kings. The lion, bear and leopard merge into the Beast of Revelation 13:1-2.

The lion is the United Kingdom, the eagle’s wings are the United States, the bear is Russia and the leopard is Germany. In the New Testament, a lion is a lion but describes nine different things (Daniel 7:3-4, 5-6, 7)

The United King’s symbol is the lion. They have nine lions on the UK royal coat of arms. The mouth of the lion is English spread throughout their empire (Revelation 13:1-2). UK started as lion and built a vast empire but stood as a man when they gave away much of their colonies (India, Ireland, Israel, South Africa), lost others (United States) and allowed home rules (Australia, Canada, New Zealand) (Daniel 7:4). The lion is not the eagle.

Sometimes an eagle is a bird (Revelation 19:17), unclean animals (Leviticus 11:13), God’s protection (Deuteronomy 32:11-12) or a symbol for a country (Daniel 7:4). The eagle is the national symbol of the United States. The Great Seal on the US one dollar bill has an eagle. The UK was an empire that travels by sea but the US eagle flies long distances as superpower around the earth. Flying started in 1903 with the Wright brothers and “the eagle has landed” on the moon in 1969. Germany’s symbol is also an eagle but is not a lion cub from the UK lion. However, the US was a colony of the UK (Ezekiel 38:13). July 4, 1776 is the 17 of Tammuz (Golden Calf). From Columbus discovering America to now, there are over a hundred historic days that fall on Jewish holy days and marked with the fingerprints of God.

United States in the Bible
• The United States’ national symbol is the eagle.
• The United Kingdom’s national symbol is the lion.
• The United States was a colony of the United Kingdom.
• The United States (eagle) was torn from the United Kingdom (lion) by the American Revolutionary War.
• The Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776 or the 17th of Tammuz (Golden Calf).

The iron and clay empire (Daniel 2:33-34) of the British lion, Russian Bear and German leopard merge into the 10 king Beast but gives power to the 11th king – Antichrist (Revelation 17:12-13). The stone (Jesus Christ) destroys the Beast at the end of the Tribulation (Daniel 2:34).
