I dont know if there is already a thread for non-lyric/hymn poetry of praise. These are a collection of older poems by me that were inspired by various circumstances over the last few years. Please feel free to comment and/or post poetry of your own if it glorifies our Great and wonderful God.

The end is ever closer
Our time is very near
To see or loving God
Perhaps this very year
*
A fool by the wisdom
Of all the earthly men
Like Noah did before me
I wait for what and when
*
Each day another promise
Is clearly seen fulfilled
The labor pangs increasing
The wanton bid your will
*
There's little use denying
The coming of your wrath
My hope and joy is knowing
I'll be gone from its path
*
My Lord, I'm rapture ready
Come lead your wander'n sheep
That till your day of judgment
Our hearts, your words do keep
*
And Lord if your will wills it
I pray that those who read
My prayer of supplication
Will hear and take your lead

The Lord is risen
Risen indeed
A world of slave
I've been set free
Our broken chains
Lay on the floor
And darkness veils
The light no more
Our King is here
Is here to stay
And all of sadness
Washed away
The tears have dried
On sun lit cheeks
Of all His glory
Creation speaks
The time is come
To say goodbye
To serpent songs
And petty lies
When all that's left
On which to gaze
Is righteous Son's
Eternal praise

Faith is not blind
It is a deliberate decision
Following rational recognition
Of Truth expelled
From honest Witness
It is placement of Hope
In words that have shown
Through countless endeavors
To lead back home

Act of Obedience
Enter my feet to the cool running water
Ready for death to sweep me away
Sinking beneath my lungs' airy dominion
Washing the blood from robes torn and frayed
Slowly I rise and catch up a new breath
Watch as my withered old life slips downstream
Baptized in water and cleansed by the fire
Polished by faith to obedience gleam
Lift I my feet from the cool running water
Stepping away from the place where I fell
Join now my brothers in life never ceasing
Drinking in deeply from Christ's holy well

With But One Defense
The words are writ upon my heart and sealed within my soul To drink of wrath my lips avoid Which spills from seven bowls Upon the heads of unrepent And Children of the sea And in my favor He will speak Before the judgment seat

Imagine The Weight
I travelled the Earth collecting its beauty
And gathered it into my pack
A scenic view here and stone of blue there
All sorted and slung on my back
I harvested smiles of festival crowds
Jarred up the smell of the rain
I captured the cries of loons in the night
Birds in the day as they sang
I pressed between pages the laughter of kids
Enjoying the beach in summer
I even collected the shadows projected
By moon lit romances of lovers
I filled up my bag as full as I could
But struggled to lift it again
Then thought to myself I might need some help
And asked for a shoulder of friends
Together we carried the beauty of Earth
With many our backs were still hurt'n
I couldn't imagine, if this is the beauty
What it'd take to carry the burden

Owe It All
Mine hope it lies in One and Three,
betwixt them watching o'er me
Thy hand it moveth subtle breeze
make good to do with quiet ease
O' God above and naught beneath
hath guided these unsaintly feet
Whilst Satan trieth cause me fail
he blunders to avert God's will
For evil hath but little sway
and in the end still must obey
Those perfect plans of God on high
fulfilling promise in His time
Whose patience stay at precious cost
assurance naught that's found be lost
One and the same as He which gave
His Son that all the world be saved.
To Him I deal out all my praise
till end may meet my earthly days.

Hallelujah
Just over two-hundred thousand words
Inhabit the lines of English verse
Of which the greatest I have heard
Is the earnest hallelujah
We stole it from the Greeks of course
Who borrowed from the Hebrews
And changing hands increased its worth
But I'll just give it to ya
Hallelujah!
God be praised!
What else should we really say?
He bore the Son to bless the day
And wipe all of our tears away
So God be praised
God be praised
With hands and voices joyous raised
If one word only I could say
It would be
Hallelujah

Learning to Live
For all the things I've yet to see The fore coming pains And the miseries For mistakes yet made Offenses untold The scorching wastelands The bone chilling cold For broken hearts And shattered dreams The fabric of life It's tattered seams I give thanks to the For all these things They'll give me strength To spread my wings All the thanks Which I can give Is to use these things To learn to live

Sunset I've never seen such beauty
As a sunset on the seas
The gentle swells of emerald green Appear as ebony
Like liquid glass it rolls on out
To touch the setting sun
As that golden orb just steals away It's shining day is done
A honey shade of amber
Blends to tangerine
Which bleeds into a crimson pool That flows onto the scene
Then deep majestic purple Reaches up to touch the sky
A subtle shade of indigo
Appealing to the eye
Such brilliant diamond stars
Rule this realm above
The Lord's awesome portrait
A scene of painted love

Sins of the Fathers
Old man in the sky, Tell me what do you see
A world lost to love, A world full of greed We’ve raped mother earth, And left her to die Her body lies broken, We’ve turned a blind eye For moneys our god, And powers our creed We’ve seen all the warnings, But didn’t take heed Our petty indifference, Turns the clay into mud For we’ve covered the ground, In innocents blood We’ve stolen the future, Left the children to pay For the sins of their fathers, And left them no say.

For Grandpa Why he had to suffer so
I’ll never understand
In all my days upon the earth
I’ve met no greater man
He gave freely of himself
Yet asked for no return
Held firmly to his beliefs
Never did he spurn
He lavished love onto his kids
And even more than that
Was never too pre-occupied
To sit and have a chat
He was a doting husband
To his loving wife
And all the folks in his small town Knew him upon sight
He had that special twinkle
That sparkled in his eye
Please dear Lord, tell me
Why grandpa had to die
His body first betrayed him
His legs just wouldn’t work
An active man his whole life
Yet now he had to shirk
Lou Gherig’s they called it
But hell is what it was
A long and slow decaying
As faculties turned to fuzz
I watched this man of vigor
As his body did unwind
Struggle for his dignity
For it doesn’t affect the mind
He watched and smiled bravely
As his body fell apart
But no power on God’s green earth Could take my grandpa’s heart Soon he couldn’t lift his arms
Then he couldn’t lift his head
We had to roll him on his side
And take him out of bed
But even near the end
When he could no longer eat The spark remained in his eyes He’d not admit defeat
Then that final fateful day
His lungs refused to breathe
And the greatest man I ever knew Went to heaven I believe
In memory of Robert Currey

Evolutions fall
Let the man with whom thinks himself wise Lift his face unto the skies Do explain, just from where Does come the very air? Tell me please, from what source Blow the very winds, upon their coarse Or the birthing of the breeze Rustling softly through the trees? From which place, do rivers flow In giving life to things that grow? Name the One, whom did choose Which colors would, the rainbow use Do you know the place, they very well From whence did come the oceans swell? Tell me wise one, how would you trace Whom bore every nation, tribe and race? Can you tell me, sir, at least From whom derives the very beasts? Or perhaps, from where did spring The life into, all things green? Kind sir, to you, I would assert From where came man? The very dirt! What is man, was given birth By the breath of God unto the earth Through his love and Holy grace Did He create, Both time and space The flowing waters, the mighty winds Have come from Him who has no ends! Each green plant and every beast From the very largest, unto the least Every crawling thing and flying bird Has it's origins, in the Word! Through divinity and with great love He's hung the stars and sun above WE are unworthy and act unwise When we don't see through, satan's guise My friend, the Lord is the truth In his words, you'll find the proof! Evolution is satan's scam There is but one creator ......... The great, I Am!

Shield of the Lord
My past, painted In shades of sin A youth spent skulking In shadows Faithfully executing The serpents desire Unaware and rebellious Towards the loving Shield Silently protecting Patiently waiting The day the demon stalks me Blind eyes, now see the rewards Of this life spent in darkness
