Another prayer request. My mother, Martha, 62 yr old, went into the hospital with severe dehydration last night. She has been unable to get herself warm for the last couple days, and has not been eating. When we took her in last night, they ran blood work and did some other scans and found a mass in her right lung. They are still waiting for a specialist to come in and look it over, but it could be either necrotizing pneumonia (which is often fatal to people with pre-existing conditions), or it could be a cancerous tumor. She has recently had her gull bladder removed, and has had many health problems over the last 20 years of her life. My father passed away from cancer of the liver just 3 years ago, and she is very scared because she watched him suffer that slowly.
I have a feeling that she is not long for this world, but asking prayers for her strength and for my other family. Most of my siblings do not know the Lord, and they do not have the comfort that I have about my mother's future. She, I believe, is part of the flock, and will be lead by The Good Shepard when the time comes.
Thank you all, and God bless

ksteven, my prayers are with you and your mother. I am so sorry about this news. Where do you live; what city, not that it really matters but just wondering if you are close to me in Boise ID. You are so right that you can take comfort in knowing that salvation is the key. Our Savior has all of us in his hands, and is fully aware of your mother's condition. And, as JD mentioned in his latest sermon when speaking about Elijah, God's ways are not our ways. Please be at peace and take comfort in the knowledge that we love you. May God bless you and your family. Our Savior loves you; please be at peace ksteven with this knowledge. I know that it is so very hard; we are with you. There is no doubt in my mind that your mother as well as your father has salvation in our Savior. Something that I heard on a movie years ago, "God is love and visa versa." The Savior loves you ksteven, please be at peace.

mike, Natalie, boraddict, Thank you all for your prayers and comfort. Last I spoke with my mother, the pulmonologist was more confident in pneumonia than otherwise. They have her on intravenous antibiotics right now, and expect she will be there until the end of the week. We are working hard at her home to make sure it is clean and ready for her return and to prevent future infections. We aren't out of the woods yet, but there is good news. She is an example of what it can do, being a witness in your actions. She had all but abandoned the church and the bible as part of her daily life. But just last week, she went out and got herself a new study bible because she said (not quoted, but paraphrased) she saw myself and my wife in the word every time she was visiting, and saw how much our 3 yr old daughter loved reading, re-enacting, and singing about all the bible stories. She felt compelled to get herself back into the word and has her new bible with her at the hospital. Her interest, as well as a recent conversation with us, has also gotten my oldest sister (who has never read the bible) to start reading the gospel. God will use all kinds of things to work in people, but being a witness to the people around you is the most important thing we can do individually as Christians. Thank you again, and keep up the amazing witness you all do on a daily basis.

mike, Natalie, boraddict, Thank you all for your prayers. My mother is home as of last night. She has pneumonia still in her right lung, and will be recovering for sometime, but the mass in her lung is breaking up and shrinking in size, so they will not need to do surgery to remove it. She is on oral antibiotics until the mass has gone away, and will have regular checks, but she is doing much better and is home with family. God is Good
