Just came across an opinion that the word used for the male child that she gave birth to is unusual as it is plural. Therefore in context, it appears that the dragon waits for her to give birth to many boy children, the Church. Then it says the child is caught up and the woman flees. Then the dragon goes after her.
Is there merit to this? Is it possibly a reference to the pre-trib Rapture?
Or is this another weirdo?

I did a word study on it once and tend to agree with that assessment. I will look up my notes for you later this evening.

Rev 12:5 She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to His throne...
ok...here is the note I made...
The first "child" is huios G5207 and most often translated "son" or "Son" (as in Son of Man or Son of God). The second use of "child" is teknon G5043 and is most often translated "children" (ex Matt 2:18, Matt 7:11, John 11:52) Rev 12:13 "child" is added to the English (probably for readability)
Also, the "caught up" is indeed the Greek word "harpazo".

Thank you! We were in service today and my son drew my attention to 2 Kings 22:18
18 Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard: 19 Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse and be laid waste—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord. 20 Therefore I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.’”
He intuited that this is a pattern for God, to remove the obedient before the punishment. Here, Josiah died, which is how he escaped.
All four of my sons are expecting the Rapture. It's wonderful to hear their opinions.

there was discussion back in 2017 about the 'corporate' understanding of 'child' versus the singular understanding. COrporate being the church, versus a singular male child (boy)

Thanks, Gary! I read them and am so surprise this isn't a commonly discussed understanding. It sure made a difference to me.
