Background: I been wallowing in a dark mental state recently. The depression, lazy, and anger could be caused by chemical imbalances in the brain or the loss of my grandma, but if I am being honest most of the issues/problems/giants in my life are caused by my own poor choices.
So after listening to a sad song on repeat while I was fighting traffic driving into work this morning, I had an realization (by God's grace) that instead of focusing on me and my problems (being wholly selfish) I should instead focus on The Holy God we serve.
The God of All Creation who flung the beautiful stars to the far reaches of the universe and created these complex systems of nature we see around us.
We should focus on The God who can stop time and move mountains.
We should focus on The God of Israel who parted the Red Sea. On a side note I once heard a preacher say if God brings you to a Red Sea, then God will surely part it for you.
We should focus on The Mighty God who used a young shepherd boy to defeat a Giant who was a soldier and a warrior.
We should focus on the God who calmed storms and cured diseases
We should focus on The God who loved us fallen creatures enough to send His Own Son to die for us. I am sure I wouldn't send anyone I love to die for someone else.
We should focus on The God who conquered death. If He can conquer death, then He obviously can handle our issues no matter how giant they seem to us. Plus it is insane we would trust Him with our eternal salvation, but not with our own personal problems. Its like telling God " I trust You with my eternal soul and where I am going to spend eternity, but not with help paying the bills or fixing my addiction." Although I have not prayed that, I sure act and think like it sometimes.
There is nothing bigger than our God, but there is also not anything as personal as close to us as our God. We don't have to be afraid to tell Him anything, because He already knows it all.
All day I should just say "God, please help me and let Your perfect will be done in my life." That prayer covers a multitude of topics (all areas of life). Plus The Wise Most Intelligent Being in the universe already knows what you need. If He provides for the birds and the flowers, why do we think He won't provide for us.
I just thought I'd this realization in case it helps a brother or sister in Christ going through some stuff. We gotta stop putting all of our focus on the problems (us and the world) and start focusing on The Mighty God Above All. Just sit back and let The Holy Spirit do it's work. If He can do all these miracles, like creating the whole world; He can certainly change our minds, our bodies, our situations. Once we realize He can help us, we also need to realize He can also Help with our family members' issues.
