After the news this weekend of two shootings in public venues (and an additional one around a week earlier – Garlic Festival) I have to ask – “ When did Life become so cheap in the USA ? “ Yes, we could (but please do not) argue the whole “Guns kill people” verses “People Kill people” debate and turn this into a political discussion – but really please do not…. In my opinion, it is a matter of PRIDE. The shooter some how considers themselves (and possibly their families) superior to everyone else. Because of the superior attitude; they feel they can end the life of anyone who they perceive as inferior.
We know the shooter in El Paso specifically target Hispanic people – because he claimed that was his motivation. So there appears to be a bit of racist attitude in that motivation as well.
But it really appears it all boils down to the belief that I (and Mine) is more important than You and Yours – which in my mind is PRIDE – pure and simple.
In Genesis 6: 5 Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of man’s heart was continually only evil.
In my opinion – that evil being talked about here – is the lack of LOVE.
In Matthew 22: 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’40 The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
Love is the equalizer – for if you love your neighbor – you will not be killing them…..

Yes, a lack of love...except for the love of self. But also a lack of taking responsibility. Or maybe it's more the attitude of "I can do what I want." Again, it's still a lack of love.
Pregnant but not married? there is a solution Husband cheats on you with another woman? shoot them Boss fires you? shoot him Expelled from school for accessing child porn? Go try to stab kids at the local library (this happened where I live)
Lawlessness abounds and we must not let our hearts grow cold. It's so easy to do. I commented in the shoutbox that the news will not report the shootings in Chicago because it happens there all the time. People grow callous to it. It still breaks my heart.
The shooter in Ohio killed his sister. His parents lost two children that night. It's so sad. Pride, hatred, selfishness; a love of self and lack of love for others...2 Tim 3:1-2 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves ...

Thanks kjs, for bringing up this subject. I think you made some good points regarding pride. Perhaps what is going on too is that we have seen our own country as well as others marginalizing God as much as possible. Schools, music, movies, books, and many other things have promoted the doctrine that God is irrelevant to our lives. The result is a feeling of purposelessness, emptiness. And the idea that life is cheap has permeated the souls of many people. Many are left to do what is right in their own eyes rather than what is right before God. Their conscience is dead. There is no guilt. So these tragedies are the expected result of what society has sown.

I am glad that you posted this in things in the earth as it is appropriate considering the lack of a spirit of light these men have. Definitely an example of the end times.
The love of many waxes cold.

gkp , I was going to say exactly what you had to say. And there is more going on for this society that insists on legislating secular morality apart from God and Jesus. Keep in mind this is MY perspective, how I see it, based on what comes across my ears and eyes..other's viewpoints or where you live may be completely opposite. We don't know where either of these two men were educated as young men or do we, so I don't want to make a stereotype to the public schools of today, but there to me seems to be root issue when it comes to removing God and our public schools. From removing prayer or 10 commandments, to promoting sex so early on, to labeling men in general as having toxic masculinity, our poor boys in schools have been denied their ability early on to learn what it is to be real men. I see society suppressing what are natural behaviors of boys, either diagnosing everything as ADD or needing "special tutoring" etc.. All this focus on elevating young girls in school I think has left the boys behind to rot in drugging them down, or isolating them further thru suppressing how God designed men. We need more shop classes, we need boys working with their hands. But what we really need to do is teach ALL CHILDREN what guns do and we need to teach them how to safely handle guns. Does anyone remember seeing the hepatitis pictures from alcohol abuse and crashes from drunk driving? Left an impact on me... where is the gun education? and while they are at it, lets show the girls an ultrasound of a 5month old fetus or the trash cans of an abortion room... I would say the pro-abortion movement has diminished life. I will say the teaching of evolution has diminished life's value, and I will say the constant rhetoric that MAN is destroying this planet and "we only have 12 years left" (AOC) leaving no hope for young people...what kind of message is that? By the way, I have heard that the manifesto of the Texas shooter talked about climate change and the doom and gloom of too many people, so this argument that he was racists goes beyond race. If I can recall, wall mart goers have been referred to as deplorable smelly trump supporters, so where really is the hate? Who is hating whom? I am very tired of our president being called a racists just because we wants LEGAL immigration. I am fed up that he is called a racist for pointing out the conditions of Baltimore. Do any of you realize the shootings that have been going on Chicago? where has that been talked about in the media? Media is one of the beast kingdoms for sure. What is truth anymore? This could be the soul root of the problem... Can you trust anything you see and hear? Why is CNN picking and choosing what to report about El Paso, and leaving out Chicago entirely?

I really, really wished to keep this thread from going political. You bringing up The President, bashing the media and other similar comments -- is taking it directly down that alley.
Please note: I am not saying any of the things you raised is not part of the problem, and yes, I feel the removal of prayer and teaching evolution and drugging young kids could possibly be factors included....
BUT and this I do feel strongly about the people of the USA as a whole are becoming completely callus to these types of things.....
Why was El Paso mentioned -- because 22 are dead --- and another 20 plus wounded --- Does Chicago have those counts in one day? In a single location?
Like it or not Death, Wounded and FEAR controls our media .... So Chicago is out -- cause it is small potatoes compared to what happen......
Not sure where you got your source about Climate change for the shooter .... But from the shot of him yelling death to @#$ Mexicans -- I say it is pretty racist to me.
----------------
Where do we go from here? How do we stop it?
Those are the questions needing answered.....
Not more political Spin trying to Back and/or downgrade the President (and I have heard both on the media lately....)

I think some of it is also a rejection of authority. Mainly God's authority. The attitude that I can live how I want, be what gender I want, marry who I want, have kids when I want. Love of self.
How do we stop mass shootings? Get people to acknowledge that man was created in the image of God and only He has the right to say when someone's time is up. That people have value no matter who they are because God made mankind. Treat others as we would want to be treated.
Good luck.
(And I have two boys who need meds for ADHD. They are not drugged. My one is still on the go constantly. Please be careful what you say. It's a sensitive topic for many parents. I am sure that the system gets abused, but any good doctor will do a thorough evaluation and give the lowest dose necessary for success.)

7 in Chicago this weekend. Haven't heard that in the news without looking www.nytimes.com/2019/08/05/us/chicago-violence-guns.htmlMatt 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Verse 11 makes me think about all the voices in the world "do as thou will", "be true to yourself", "yolo", "as long as you're happy". I don't see the truth of God in any of that. Then 12 continues the process of decline. Our nation and world are full of iniquity. Not sin, but iniquity! Dear God forgive us our ways for not acknowledging you IN ALL THINGS! We saints must endure in our faith. Be strong brethren

St Louis also had several shootings over the weekend... www.ktrs.com/several-injured-one-dead-after-violent-weekend-in-st-louis-city/Not as many died as Chicago, but smaller incidents happen all the time. It's still sad. But there is something extremely tragic in the mass shootings. Something less personal than someone shooting a cheating spouse or someone in a rival gang. Something frightening because it's so unexpected. But even some of the shootings in Chicago and St. Louis don't make sense. Why just pull up to a park (that was supposed to be closed) and shoot a bunch of people?

How about this perspective: human/ sex trafficking is being exposed and (prayerfully) is slowly but surely being taken down. This does not bode well for Moloch. We are in the midst of this climactic spiritual war, particularly the shutting down of the elite and their grip on this.
Behind the scene spiritually we can identify it by what we see physically on earth: attacks on the child: abortions, pedophilia, attacks on this Christian nation: removal of God from it, and pretty much all of what Paul writes about in Romans 1. This beast system will not lay down lightly, and hence we see it manifesting in evil minds resulting in shootings, bombings, pirating, hatred, libel, media bias (lies), corruption within our government, etc.
Unfortunately the result is death in this battle, yet we know He said: "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
When we say our thoughts and prayers go out, are we effectively praying? Maybe we need to pre-pray.. Bind this evil thru prayer. In this forum we all seem to be quite aware of what is to come..we are shown in Heaven what WILL be done on earth. Not many are paying attention to this outside of places like here.
Heavenly Father, we know you are all -powerful mightier than all. You are the Creator of all things, and we have faith in your sovereignty. We ask Lord that you shine light to those who suffer in these terrible times. Many have no hope, many want to blame. Many want to solve something that really is beyond our physical control. I heard three people today on the airways mention your Son Jesus, and they spoke truth about the spiritual warfare going on behind the scenes. We need these witnesses Lord more than ever. Jesus is the Way, the LIGHT, and reveals ALL things. His Name is above all names Lord. Bring strength to those who are called to come along side each and everyone of your children so as to fight this evil battle with you. Give them strength to witness the Good News of the One who Overcame Death for all, so that none shall perish. The principalities of this world are uneasy now more than ever. We meditate on Eph 6 Lord. We put on our armor for you and stand strong. In Your Precious Name we ask to bind this evil force Lord that has a grip on our brethren, our nation, our friends even those apart from us. Your Light will expose all things. Please come quickly Lord. Amen.
Maybe this thread should be a prayer page..

kjsYou asked how do we stop it? You can’t. We all know what all of this is heading to. What we can do is to be patient in faith, loving one another, ever learning and teaching and exhorting one another, pulling lives from the fire 1 at a time. You will see this grow much more and it will spread to other western countries. All the more reason to stay firm and share the gospel

The bar shooting in Ohio (and take it with a grain of salt - since it was reported on ABC News)
That the shooter was in the club (dressed in shorts) for about 15 minutes ....
Before leaving and returning in Full Combat gear with all the weapons....
To me that screams Pre-Planned .... I mean no one just happens to have Full Combat Gear and weapons in the car -- Do They?
Plus it appears one of his victims was his own sister.....

What is truth anymore? This could be the soul root of the problem... Can you trust anything you see and hear? Why is CNN picking and choosing what to report about El Paso, and leaving out Chicago entirely? barbiosheepgirl, I believe this to be an echo that is nearly two thousand years old. I know he has been portrayed many different ways, but one facet I see, just from his statement "What is truth?", Pontius Pilate might be portrayed as a mentally weary prefect that has seen too much injustice and corruption, even though he may have contributed to it himself. Rome was at it's height, as are most first world countries right now. Lying and corruption were probably a daily routine for him, so much so that when talking with our Lord Jesus, he heaved a sigh, shrugged his shoulders and said, "What is truth?" because he truly believed it to be lost or non-existent. He was a just a man, after all, and just like us, he dealt with the same things we do.
"What has been is what will be, and what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." Eccl. 1:9
