ISTANBUL — Defying strenuous American objections and the threat of sanctions, Turkey began receiving the first shipment of a sophisticated Russian surface-to-air missile system on Friday, a step certain to test the country’s uneasy place in the NATO alliance. The system, called the S-400, includes advanced radar to detect aircraft and other targets, and the United States has been unyielding in its opposition to Turkey’s acquisition of the equipment. The installation of the Russian antiaircraft system is deeply troubling to Washington on several levels. It puts the Russian technology at the heart of NATO, inside the territory of a key NATO ally — one from which strikes into Syria have been staged. The Russian engineers who will be required to set up the system, American officials fear, will have an opportunity to learn much about the American-made fighter jets that are also part of Turkey’s fleet. The dividing lines between the nations is becoming clearer.
There is Russia the "big dog," and then her surrogates Iran and North Korea both of whom are going nuclear.
To top that off that "big dog" has been violating the nuclear treaties, for years, as if they did not exist.
Turkey has always been a lost cause as a NATO member; a fence sitter. When they shot down the Russian jet fighter they were so afraid because of what Russia might do to them. It was out of that fear of retribution that Turkey buckled at the knees to worship the beast rather than be crushed. So Putin played his cards and won the weak spineless trash on the edge of Europe to his benefit and now positions them as his. Those missile systems belong to Russia and not Turkey (I bet). So Russia is developing its front in Turkey, Syria, Iran, and no doubt, Iraq. Also, all the "stans" will align with that beast when he pushes just a little.
India is the lone player down south that holds a few at bay. China has it's designs on Taiwan and the other island nations. Hopefully Japan has it's share of nukes to offset China.
South Korea is a sitting duck with it's head in the sand. Yes a great economy but no match for the deranged north.
Ukraine is a bold nation to stand as it did. If there was ever a nation with courage it is that one; to face the beast and hold it's ground. Unfortunately, now the west sees it as the nation to manipulate. So what Russia is doing to Turkey, the west has likewise done to Ukraine; both of these nations are victims of these two sides, Russia and the west, out of the fear of Russia.
The little nations like Latvia and so forth are simply pawns that do not matter.
But the major problem is with Iran. The lines are drawn and any action will be met with a counter action from the other side. It is all up to Iran.
How long can this stand-off last?
