Turn on Fox, CNN, MSNBC, BBC... all the major news networks are covering it right now. The symbol of Catholicism in France is burning. The spire has collapsed, the entire roof is gone, and they're trying to contain the fire before the whole frame is incinerated.
It caught my attention right away that this cathedral was completed in 1260. 1260 being the number of days that the two witnesses prophesy, the length of the Great Tribulation, and the length of time Israel is protected in the wilderness.

EW made an interesting observation:
"www.cnbc.com/2019/04/15/trump-encourages-france-to-use-flying-water-tankers-for-notre-dame-fire.html Anyone else hear:"And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood."
Note that Notre-Dame means "Our Lady". Her pains begin.

lot is said in this photo. What it used to look like: The church is collapsing/burning from the top, destroying/covering/darkening the things set up next to the cross - yet the simple cross remains.

The verse that came to mind was "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:5

One of my struggles of late has been to keep from mocking the silliness of the so-called relics of the catholic church. The crown of thorns? A nail from the cross of our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ? There is bound to be the actual blood of Jesus on both of these if they are real, right? And there has been no call for a DNA test all these years? I pray our Heavenly Father forgive my attitude as I bury my face in my palms. How long, Lord Jesus? Please come soon!

stormyknight - keep guarding your heart brother. You know in whom you trust! Read this in my morning timeJer 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I [am] the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these [things] I delight, saith the LORD.Many of us have had similar response to stuff like this. Why do they look at relics as if they are something special. How long Lord will you suffer unrighteousness? Just read some of the prophets or stuff from David and see their responses to God, its not unnatural, but God is more merciful than we are

Maybe, (and this is pure speculation) -- it is people "need" something to "see' and "touch" before they can believe.
Without the physical -- they are very leery of trusting anything "unseen" ....
IN MY OPINION -- (so take it with a bunch of salt)
It is kind of like teaching kids about mythical creations (such as Santa, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny)....
Where they discover their "FAITH" is near destroyed -- when they find out no such creations ever existed......
So Now God -- who is completely unseen in the physical sense (Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.)
They who just lost their faith in the Santa's of the world -- start wondering if they can trust in this invisible God....
So suddenly they need "physical elements" to "help" their Belief......
(I know, this is really another topic) ... but relics were raised here ... so through in my two cents as well............

no, you are absolutely right, kjs. Man has always needed 'something' he can see/touch to worship. The ancient Israelites needed a king and then they needed a temple. Someone they can see/hear/talk to to rule them and a place for God to 'be'*. Idols and Icons were a big thing with most other religions. Relics give people a connection with the divine, or so they think and so believe that toworship them 'helps' them be close to God. And of course, Satan will do whatever it takes to perpetuate that belief.
*That way God was 'over there' in His house and I'm over here in my house. I will go over to His house to worship Him and pray to Him, but I also want to come back to my house and do what I want to do. The concept that God is everywhere and knows our thoughts at all times was/is lost on the masses. Or people in darkness want to be able to retreat to the darkness occasionally, meaning a person is mostly a good person, but that human nature makes us sometimes think we can hide from God even though we can't.
ps. kjs I kind of like it when a thread takes a tangent. Sometimes what is being talked about sparks something else, but to put it in a whole new thread loses the context of how that thought came to be. Does that make sense? I can't wait to have conversations and group chats on the other side of the return of our Lord Jesus.

While flames were engulfing the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on Tuesday night, a pillar of smoke was spotted on the Temple Mount. Though the Jerusalem fire was quickly extinguished, it was misreported in the media. A small fire was reported on the rooftop of a guard station outside of the Marwani prayer room in the southeastern corner of the Temple Mount. Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib, director general of the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, suggested that the fire was set by small Arab children. The fire was reportedly extinguished in under ten minutes. Other than the loss of the guard booth, no damage was reported. Responding to the incident, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned anyone against targeting the holy site, emphasizing the need to preserve the compound’s “great religious and humanitarian value.” www.breakingisraelnews.com/126652/temple-mount-fire-misreported-by-media/
