My son is on a travel baseball team (13 yr olds) and tonight was their first practice. One of the moms is wanting to do yoga and pilates with the boys. I will be telling her that I do not want Samuel to participate in any yoga. The coach's son plays baseball at a University, and they do yoga.
I'm not even sure what to ask you guys to pray for. I guess that she would be understanding and not push this on these kids. We went through this while my daughter was still in public school. She was the only one in a classroom of about 40 kids not doing yoga in PE. I don't want my son isolated; I remember what being 13 can be like.
I'm so tired of fighting this stuff and just want to go Home.

Praying for you to have wisdom to deal with this and to be able to be a witness as well.

The prayer should be for peace. Perhaps you could ask your son to support your decision so that you would have peace between you and your son. After that nothing else matters.
I will be praying that your son will have peace and comfort in your decision.
Thank you Natalie for being a good mom.

I don't fight the Yoga but have spoke with my children about doing the hand symbols. I would love to be able to put up a fight but it is hard when were are bombarded constantly with so many things. Sometimes I think it would be nice to pack up the kids and move to off grid living. I don't think my husband would be too happy if I did that. 🤣
My kids also can't wait to be done with this world with how it is right now.
I will pray for you and your son for guidance and for understanding by the team.

Some of the ladies in our town do a yoga thing and several years ago, my wife was invited to a session. I gently warned her not to go, but she didn't want to be rude. When she came home, she said, "never again, that's just pure evil".
My parents made us kids "suffer" in similar ways. Yep, it was painful at the time, but it did not kill us, and now we fully understand their convictions. What seemed unfair at the time was that they would just say "No, you aren't doing that". No reason, their word was law. A better approach...if I were you...and your kid is 13...plenty old enough to understand what it's all about, I'd have a heart to heart about why this is not a good thing for him so at least he understands your position.
Thank you Jesus for wise, Godly parents.

Yes, I agree. My daughter was able to understand when I explained to her in second grade, so I will definitely have a talk with him.
The good thing is that my husband is on the same page. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have been so sure.
Thank you Fitz and sawdy for your prayers.

Is it possible to separate the two? I don't know the answer to that for sure. Could something spiritual be going on even if we label it exercise? From what I have read, those in the Hindu religion say you cannot separate the physical and spiritual when doing yoga even though Western culture says otherwise. But I do not feel comfortable with yoga because of the fact that it is how they worship their gods and try to connect with them. I have read many stories of people having all kinds of issues from practicing yoga, and I believe many could possibly be demonic in nature. (Although maybe it is connected more with what comes along with yoga, the visualization, meditation, what not) I know this lady has good intentions, but I don't know how much of the spiritual stuff will come through. I also don't know how deeply she is in it. (My daughter's PE teacher wanted to do visualization and yoga) I also don't want to see children exposed to it now, go on to later practice it more seriously and get involved in things they didn't bargain for. But in this situation I have no control over that. I know that Acts 15:20 is in the context of food sacrificed to idols, but to me this is an offering to idols. And 1 John 5:21 keep yourselves from idols. I did a lot of reading on yoga, mindfulness, etc a couple years ago. There is a spiritual battle going on and Satan is working as hard as he can. and I believe that the younger deception gets its hold the harder it is to break. Sorry for making this so long. It's not always an easy answer.

I'm with you - so burned out by how much is constantly pushed on us.
Can we and our families just be left alone for crying out loud?
Wait. We will be very soon when we're dancing on streets of gold!
In the meantime, I will pray. Hold fast!

I did talk to my son. They had been learning about other religions at church, so it was easy to begin by starting there. I decided that I will send the coach a short text, probably tomorrow, instead of just waiting until Monday to talk to the mom or coach. I've also come up with a list of exercises for him to do instead, so I am prepared there, also.

So, coach is fine with Samuel not doing yoga. The mom and her son were late to practice because of a basketball game (seems half the team also plays basketball), so they just did regular stretches/warm up stuff. They don't have practice the 21st because of no school that day, so they don't practice again until the 28th.
I guess I'm still anticipating questions directed at him from his teammates.
