This was mentioned in another thread:

The bolded part led me to this analogy:
We are shoppers in a grocery store.
we are selecting food items and other things for various reasons.
1)what we like to eat
2)what we should be eating
3)what we cant be eating
4)what out child needs
5)what our spouse likes
6) I am a teenager shopping
7) I am a mom shopping
8) I am a man shopping
9) I am a college student shopping
10) I live alone
11) I am dealing with cancer
12)You are having a party soon
13) You are shopping in the 1980's
15)You only use coupons
My point is this:
Sometimes our age, our situation, our restraint, our fear keeps us from going down the aisle that may just have an ingredient that will expand our culinary, spiritual, horizon... for me, it is olives. I do not like them. Yet, I can eat pickled herring, so go figure.
As we get older (grow in His Word) sample what others say about the Scriptures, we try it out, we seek, and we pray, we eat. And, sometimes, like in the 80's when animal fat was bad and carbs were good, we learn more and realize not all the experts are correct in that thinking...(my apologies if you are a low fat/pro-carb dieter).. My point is that the Lord has us shopping in His Word for what it is that we need at the time that we need it. Not all of us are in the same aisle shopping, and not all of us buy into the same brand name, but boy do we like what tastes good,..
At least we are all in the same Store together, and will all get thru the check out line at the same time!!! 12 items or less!! And are all looking forward to that great Marriage Supper!!!!
What I am trying to understand is how do we know when an earthquake is not the physical shaking of the earth? How do we tell that when we are reading through Scripture? Like the verses in Isaiah.
