I have contemplated it as a possibility but never stuck on it as 100%.
The religious portion of Islam fits extremely well as well as the countries involved in the last days that are named are Muslim majority nations. The same nations have been against Israel forever.

If you look at most books and blogs of the Rome idea, it goes like this: the 4rth is Rome.
That’s it! No....it’s rome because point A, B and C....soo many insert it without evidence. Anything inserted to me is suspect.

My pastor believes it’s Rome too. This has been culturally pasted down in many sermons without much review of it being questioned except in books at your local Barnes and nobles.

I like to ask, why Rome? If there are 7 heads, how is it the 6th and 8th? How does it revive out of Greece? Alexander wasn’t conquered by Rome. The countries involved seem to be middle eastern, not European. The prince of the people that comes......is a fact the people that burned down the city and temple were mostly Syrian and Arab, not Italian...Josephus shows us that.

If a pope rised that becomes the AC today, what army would he have to kill? If a man rises up that Muslims believed to be their leader...could you see a large following? Today, many Muslims do ask for a new Saladin or Nebuchadnezzar to return and lead them to remove the Jews and retake Israel. Not the Catholics. What law would Catholics change according to Daniel? Yet many Muslims want sharia. What times would Catholics change? Yet again, many Muslims what the Islamic calendar and nation worship on Friday only, not Sat or Sunday.

What other laws do some want change. Blasphemy laws, clothing laws, separation of women from men on public transit to name a few.

Is it possible it’s both? Sure because we don’t know. But follow the clues in the Bible and history and pray for guidance. I currently see it not as Rome. Not because it is impossible but because to me, the facts aren’t there. If it was European, Germany makes more sense tbh but that’s a different topic.

barb84 , interestingly an messianic Jewish friend of mine living in Israel brought up the same thought (EU/Islam - Iron/Clay)
He does surely not know your pastor and he only recently started busying himself with endtimes prophecy, only by reading the bible.
He got some very interesting insights from God during the last weeks.
It's amazing to see how God is spreading pieces of perception.
If different believers in different places get the same insight, I consider this to be a strong indicator.

As in the days of Noah, there were giants in those days and afterward. The mixing of DNA was a big part of the destruction back then, and just like then, no flesh would be left alive if not for the shortening of these days. 

I agree with Barb, but also believe there’s an extra layer to this with non-human entities.
