According to the Parable of the Fig Tree in Matthew 24, the generation that sees Israel reborn and the fig tree "put out its leaves" is the same generation that will see the completion of the Tribulation and the return of Jesus Christ (Second Coming).
The length of the generation is given in Psalms 90:10, "The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they be eighty years, yet is their labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away." (Psalms 90:10)
I feel like it will be a 70 year generation (for the rapture) with the following years representative of the labour (figurative of Great Tribulation) and sorrow mentioned in Psalms 90:10. Also let's say the rapture was to happen this year (70 year generation), and the start of the Great Tribulation, then the Second Coming will be 7 years later making it 77 years of the fig tree generation. I'm sure you all know the significance of the number 77. Have any of you guys thought of it like this? And also if 80 years is the limit of a generation then 2028 - 7 = 2021 do you think we should expect the rapture between now and 2021 at the latest?

JoelI think we need to be cautious when calling "THIS" (1948 -2018) the 70 years generation. It is true many, many biblical scholars have been be proclaiming this idea for years -- so much so that has "become one of those facts" that everyone just knows. The "Six day war" (or the 1967 war) is the first time that Jerusalem came back into the possession of the Jewish people. It may be "this date" that indicates the start of a "Generation" If it is the Six day war -- which is the starting point -- than based on your logic of needing 70 years -- the future dates would be 2027 (for 70) and 2037 (for 80). Don't get me wrong -- I want it to be the 1948 date as well and have everything completed within next couple of years.... I just want to caution everyone -- that we really do not not know the starting point.....

I have wondered about what kjs is saying as well - and it very well could be that scenario. I also agree with JD Farag who always talks about prophecy having a "shelf life". It does seem like all the convergences and the alliances between Russia, Turkey and Iran, etc. can only last so long. But God can do absolutely anything and if He means it to continue then it will. Also, He says that this generation will not pass away - not that it has to continue a full 70 years, correct?

Heck I hope Our Lord and King returns before I finish typing... Oh well. I have always wondered about the part "when the fig tree puts forth its leaves" Wouldn't that point to 1967? The tree wouldn't have had many leaves in 1948. I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade, it is something I have been curious about.
