Hi! I am feeling like the pieces are making sense in my head and a picture is coming together. There are so many details to fill in and so many explanations to give as to why I think things will unfold the way I am proposing. I would love to create a chart to show these ideas but for now I will just list them, both as a reference point for myself in creating a chart and also so you can begin to think and pray on these things and show me what I am missing or doesn't make sense. I will fill in the details and reasons why I believe this as time allows.
I believe the first half of Daniel's 1st week has already been fulfilled from the time of Jesus' baptism until His death. The timeline I propose below would fulfill the second half of Daniel's 70th week and will encompass the events of Revelation as well as Matthew 24, Ezekiel 38, Zechariah 12, and Zechariah 14. A big part of this timeline and understanding is based on the events of Exodus 19-32 and Numbers 13-14. I believe that, just as Jesus is the second Adam who "undid" the curse of the Garden, the end story of God's people will "undo" the events of Sinai and the desert.
This timeline, I believe, explains how all of Israel will be saved in the end as per Romans 11:25-26:
Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers:
a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
“The Deliverer will come from Zion,
he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
“and this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”
The perspective as follows is based on the understanding that Daniel 9:27 is not about the AC making a covenant with Israel but rather God confirming the covenant He made with Israel long ago, which has in a way been put on hold for the church age. A physical temple may or may not be rebuilt, and a peace plan with Israel may or may not be made... neither of those matter for this view. I will post verse references but let you look them up for yourselves... otherwise this post would be quite long if I include them all here.
Day 1: The Abomination of Desolation and the war of Ezekiel 38. God comes to the aid of Israel which is the picture we see in Revelation 12:13-16. He comes to the rescue with a supernatural event like an earthquake ("the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth") which corresponds to the parting of the Red Sea. This begins the day count of the great tribulation. I believe the rapture could be on this day or perhaps this is our warning that it will occur 3(?) days later.
Days 1-1260: The 144,000 are in the wilderness being protected and nourished by God. This nourishment is in the form of manna but more importantly in the scripture and understanding of the Word and the Messiah Jesus who already came. This word "nourished" in Rev 12:6 has a connotation of spiritual development (Strong's 5142). These 144,000 correspond to the priests God asked them to be at Sinai (but only the Levites stepped forward so that needs to be "undone" by all 12 tribes stepping forward), and these 144,000 also correspond to the 12 spies sent out to spy the promised land in Numbers 13. In this story, only Joshua and Caleb believed God could give them victory over the cannibal Nephilim giants in the land flowing with milk and honey. The others despaired and wanted to go back to Egypt. This needs to be "undone" as well... all 12 tribes need to recognize the identity and victory given to them by God. So these 144,000 are the continuing of God sealing up the iniquity of the past (Daniel 9:24) which began with Jesus' atonement on the cross.
Also during this time, Israel is protected from her enemies under the power of the 2 witnesses. They can call down plagues and fire and whatever they want. So Israel becomes a cup of trembling (Zechariah 12) for the nations who are suffering famine, drought, and disease. Israel still has food and water and is protected, further reinforcing the desire of the nations to conquer and plunder her. If Israel wants to build a temple during this time, they do not need any agreement with the AC... her enemies will not be able to touch her during this time. The Palestinians will have been wiped out either in the Ezekiel 38 war or could be pushed back by the 2 witnesses (if that is indeed God's plan for them to build a temple).
Day 1260: The 144,000 go back to Judea and begin their testimony. Imagine 144,000 Pauls and Peters and Acts 2. These 144,000 have glimpsed at the land flowing with milk and honey through their encounter with the Lord in the wilderness (they have tasted and seen that the Lord is good). They have seen the Nephilim cannibals as well and know that the battle is real, but they have been fully nourished in the Gospel and are ready to conquer and enter the promised land, unlike their ancestors in Numbers 14. Paul knew that he would one day be killed for his message, but he boldly went wherever the Lord sent him, and these 144,000 now do the same. They conquer by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.
Days 1260-1335: The people of Jerusalem begin to listen to the testimony of the 144,000, and many believe and are saved. But the protection of the witnesses is gone (they have been killed, resurrected, and taken to heaven), and Israel is vulnerable so now Zechariah 14 can take place. In this war, Jerusalem is conquered, plundered (they are the only ones with food), and half of the people are taken into exile (perhaps another fulfillment of "one is taken and one is left"). This exile seems to only last a short time though before Jesus comes back with His holy ones and defeats Israel's captors.
Day 1335: Jesus returns with His holy ones, striking all the people who waged war against Jerusalem with the plague of rotting their flesh while they are still standing (Zechariah 13:12). This is probably the same as the battle we typically call Armageddon.
EDIT: I have changed this from what I originally posted after realizing that the abomination must be at the beginning for this system to work. I have some new perspective from last night that I hope to write soon!
