Revelation 21: 1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
First heaven, First earth... passed away. I mean, HOW? and WOW! New Jerusalem comes out of heaven... for certain it would be pretty big coming from that expanse.
I had to check something that I used in another thread and it got me thinking. We will be back on earth reigning with Jesus during the 1000 year reign, right? I mean, we wont be "in heaven" .. Am I interpreting this wrong? Or is it we reign and judge what's left on earth that 1000 years from our loft in heaven, THEN the heaven and earth pass away and we are in that new Jerusalem as it comes down out of heaven?

Some will reign with Christ, but not all. But does that mean those who don't reign will still be in heaven? Probably.

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. - 1 Thessalonians 4:17
To me, this sounds like we go wherever Jesus goes. Am I missing something though?

I think i get that...As those who have "worked" for many years will be rewarded with reign/authority, comparatively those who have not worked yet believed or believed at a final hour, will not be given much in terms of authority or reign yet still be with HIM

I have no problem with Jesus being on the Earth and in heaven during the Millennial Reign.

barbiosheepgirl said: Well, the way I see it in scripture is that we reign from heaven with Christ. With New Jerusalem positioned above earthly Jerusalem. I think we will be able to interact with people on earth but our abode will be in heavenly New Jerusalem. Angels are able to leave the heavenly dimension to interact on earth with humans, so in the same way I think we will as well, though differently and visibly. The word "canopy" is Strong's Hebrew # 2646 The word is used here in Joel to describe the bridal chamber: I believe that this canopy that resides over mount Zion during the millennial reign will be New Jerusalem. Partially or even fully visible to those on earth. The seat of Christ's throne is in heaven, but the earth is the Footstool of His throne.

The way i understand it is the way Revelation seems to put it chronologically.
1. Rapture--we go to Heaven with Christ until the Tribulation is played out.
2. Return of Christ--we come back to the earth with Christ at the time of Armageddon. He establishes His earthly kingdom on this same old earth, and we reign with Him over the human survivors of the Tribulation during the Millennium.
3. Millenial Kingdom/ Millennium-- for 1000 years we reign with Christ over the Tribulation survivors and their descendants, on this current planet earth. It is important to remember that at this juncture we the raptuted saints will have our glorified perfect bodies and will be reigning over regular, non-glorified people. We will be sinless and perfect--they will be sinful and imperfected.
4. Destruction of the universe--after the end of the Millennium, the old heavens and earth will be destroyed. All humans, alive and dead, glorified and unglorified, saved and unsaved, at that time will be gathered together to witness and participate in the next event--
5. The Great White Throne Judgment. The dead (unsaved) will be judged with God's final judgment and thrown into the Lake of Fire.
6. The New Heavens and the New Earth and New Jerusalem. After the GWT Judgment, God makes all things new. He creates a new heaven, a new earth, and the New Jerusalem. At this point all the people remaining are those who are eternal saved glorified children of God, and they dwell with God in the glorious New Heavens, New Earth, and New Jerusalem for eternity.
I hope my understanding of this sequence is correct, and that I've been able to clarify it, if so. There's always room for misunderstanding and disagreement, but my reading of Revelation and the rest of the Bible seems to agree with this timeline.
