My friend RJ, who is a great man and one who loves God immensely, recently had a vision or dream while he was praying intensely about some decisions he needed to make, and some people who were being a challenge to him. He saw a massive city or complex with incredibly lofty proportions, with an open-air infrastructure, massive pillars like mountains reaching out of sight into the clouds above, with cat-walk like roads and platforms suspended in mid air between them, and everything was profusely decorated with living foliage. There were houses and other buildings, all of massively varying architecture, but it was all harmonious and immensely beautiful. He didn't know what it was until as he "flew around in it" he saw narrow yellow ribbons, which he then determined were paths or roads-- then he realized they were streets of gold! He saw people and angelic beings. The whole atmosphere was one of peace, righteousness, grandeur, and stability. For what it's worth. When he told me about it, we discussed the possibility too, that maybe the New Jerusalem might actually appear slightly different to different saints, depending on their own personality and affinities. Just speculation, but it was really amazing. He said what really convinced him it was from the Lord was that he interrupted the vision to enquire to the Lord whether what he was seeing was real or important, and then continued to pray for his topics he had originally been praying for, and then the same vision came back and continued right where he had left off, with more to see. For what it's worth.

Very interesting. I had a dream when I was young that might jive with what he saw. In my dream there were also narrow "yellow ribbons" suspended very high up in what seemed to be Heaven. I walked down one and it came to a point over a completely clear lake or sea and then I jumped off into the lake. I remember everything was very BRIGHT.

Gary that's consistent with the kind of things he saw! He didn't jump in, but it matches. He said there were rivers and lakes in abundance, too.

One thing I can't help but think is that the New Jerusalem will be so vast and so detailed that it will have little homes and/or "favorite places" for each of us, based on our own personalities and tastes. In addition to the great fact that God will be with us and we can interact directly with Him forever, we also will be making new friends for eternity until we know everyone!

I really like the way your friend pictured things. Also, even though I know we'll be there for eternity, it never occurred to me that eventually we'll meet everyone. That's an awesome thought. And after seeing Jesus, and loved ones already in heaven, I think I most want to see Adam and Eve.

So many questions I need answered from him. just imagine the stories he could tell you regarding his trials and tribulations building the ark. Not to mention what it must have been like seeing the earth flooded and destroyed while you are in an ark surrounded by a seven family members and scores of animals. Heaven is going to be beyond words.

These poor guys...Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, David, John, Peter, Paul, ...on and on. All these giants of the faith will be selling tickets for a 5 minute audience. I can imagine people will be lined up for miles...for decades...just to get to talk with them! LOL.
