Lifting up prayers right now for brothers and sisters who are feeling pain this Thanksgiving. I know there are a myriad of circumstances that can make the holiday season a hurdle to get over, or at least around, rather than a joyous celebration. For most of us, life is a not a two-hour Hallmark movie where all ends well and we live happily ever after. Here are a few of the scenarios I can envision where folks who read this board right now are experiencing anguish in their souls today, in many cases silently with no expression of pain or acknowledgement outside of the Lord Himself:
Loved ones who have died and will never again sit at the table with the family this side of the harpazo
Loneliness with a sense that no one really knows who you are
Struggling health issues
Marital struggles
Wayward children
Financial burdens from which there seems to be no relief in sight
Unrealized dreams that may seem destined for the ash heap
Personally, I can relate to quite a few of these, so I am "preaching" to myself even as I pray for those who can relate to the above list, or other scenarios that would fit.
Abba, we find comfort in knowing that You are aware of every pain, every heartache, every tear we shed in the solitude of the depths of our souls. We thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit as the Comforter, who wraps us in Your love. I ask You to uniquely and tangibly comfort each person who may read this post and sheds tears as they recognize themselves described in the words written. Breathe encouragement and strength into our souls as we seek You to comfort us. Help us to keep our eyes fixed upon You and to cling to Your promises. You are good, despite the pain and anguish. You have sent Your Son to take our place on the cross, so that we can live with assurance and confidence of our eternal destiny. You have promised to send back Yeshua to get us and take us to Your house. You have promised that our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life by Your grace as we put our faith in Yeshua's life, death, & resurrection. So, even through the tears, we praise You and take our stand upon the living Word of God. Help us to finish well for Your glory. We love you. We are watching for Your Son. And our souls cry out with the saints new and old, "Maranatha!!!"
